A prompt is displayed indicating that my HUAWEI computer is missing important security and quality fixes in Windows Update |
Problem
When the user tries to update the operating system, the error message "Your device is missing important security and quality fixes" displays.
Cause
System updates and patches have not been properly downloaded or installed.
Solution
Check and update the Windows system. Ensure that the network connection is normal before performing the following steps.
- Click the Windows icon and go to Settings > Update & Security.
- In Windows Update, click Check for updates.
- Perform the updates if there are any. Your files will not get lost during the update. However, you can back up important files to an external storage device beforehand.
- You can manually update the system even if no updates are found.
- Generally, your computer will automatically download and install system updates in the background when connected to a network. If you want to update now, back up your data and use the Windows 10 Update Assistant (provided by Microsoft) to update to the latest version of Windows 10. For details, see Download Windows 10.
- To uninstall the Windows 10 Update Assistant, go to Control Panel > Programs and Features. Alternatively, click the Windows icon and then Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
The HUAWEI MateBook E 2019 is not compatible with the Update Assistant. You can only manually update the operating system.
- If the update fails, try again with another network or another time. If the issue persists, back up your data, ensure that your Office account is activated and record your account, and follow the instructions in Use F10 to restore factory settings on a HUAWEI Windows computer. Then, try updating again.
