The Scaling option is grayed out in the monitor's OSD menu
The Scaling option is grayed out in the monitor's OSD menu |
Problem
There are black borders on the desktop when the Windows desktop resolution is set to a value other than 3440 x 1440. The user wants to scale the display, but the Scaling option is grayed out and cannot be selected.
Cause
In this case, the active resolution of Windows remains 3440 x 1440 and only the desktop UI uses the value other than 3440 x 1440. The active resolution is the optimal resolution of the monitor and in this case the Scaling option is disabled.
To view the active resolution:
Right-click any blank area on the desktop, go to Display settings > Advanced display settings, select a monitor from the drop-down list, and view the display information.
Solution
Step 1: Right-click any blank area on the desktop and select Display settings.
Step 2: In the displayed dialog box, select Advanced display settings.
Step 3: In the displayed dialog box, click Display adapter properties for a specific display.
Step 3: In the displayed dialog box, select List All Modes.
Step 4: Select the optimal resolution 3440 x 1440 and click OK and then Apply. After the resolution is applied, select another resolution, such as 1920 x 1080, and click OK and then Apply.
Step 5: Operate the control button on the monitor. You will then see the Scaling option in Picture settings. Click Scaling and select Full screen, Scaled, or Original size.
