After the phone screen is projected to HUAWEI MateView, reverse control using a keyboard or mouse does not work

Problem

The user cannot control the phone using the keyboard or mouse connected to HUAWEI MateView after the phone screen is projected to the monitor.

Cause

  1. The keyboard or mouse is not correctly connected to the monitor.

This feature is supported by MateView wireless version (Huashan-CBA).

  2. The phone does not use the Cast+ projection protocol for wireless projection. The monitor supports reverse control using the keyboard and mouse only when the Cast+ projection protocol is used. If you are using a non-HUAWEI phone, your phone and monitor will use the Miracast protocol for screen projection. In this case, reverse control using a keyboard or mouse is not supported.
  3. If you are using a HUAWEI phone, the possible causes are as follows:
    1. You are using a phone running EMUI 10.1 or earlier for screen projection.
    2. You are using PC mode for screen projection.
    3. You are using a phone running a system later than EMUI 10.1 and Mobile desktop mode or Desktop mode for screen projection. However, the connection between the phone and the monitor is abnormal.

You can determine the current screen projection mode based on the image style displayed on the monitor during screen projection.

Projection Mode

Image Feature

Display Style

Mobile desktop mode

The same content is displayed on the phone and monitor.

PC mode

  1. Different content is displayed on the phone and monitor.
  2. The style of the desktop displayed on the monitor is similar to that of Windows. There is an app entry similar to the Start menu in the lower left corner and a status bar in the lower right corner.

Desktop mode

  1. Different content is displayed on the phone and monitor.
  2. The style of the desktop displayed on the monitor is different from that of Windows. There is a dock bar at the bottom of the desktop, and a status bar in the upper right corner.

Solution

  1. Check whether the keyboard or mouse is properly connected to the monitor. You can switch your monitor to the Wireless input source to use the mouse or keyboard. If the mouse or keyboard does not work properly in this input source, the mouse or keyboard is not properly connected to the monitor. In this case, reconnect the mouse or keyboard.
  2. If you are using a non-HUAWEI phone, reverse control using a keyboard or mouse is not available during wireless projection. Connect the keyboard or mouse to your phone through a docking station.
  3. If you are using a HUAWEI phone, perform the following steps:
    1. If you are using a phone running EMUI 10.1 or earlier, it is recommended that you connect the keyboard or mouse to your phone through a docking station.
    2. If you are using a phone running a system later than EMUI 10.1 and PC mode for screen projection, reverse control using a keyboard or mouse is not available. You can use the touchpad on the phone to control the desktop, or connect the keyboard or mouse to the phone for reverse control.
    3. If you are using a phone running a system later than EMUI 10.1 and Desktop mode for screen projection (Cast+ screen projection protocol is used), reverse control using a keyboard or mouse is not available. Please disconnect and initiate projection again.
