Unable to refresh weather information on my HUAWEI smart watch |
If you are using a HUAWEI WATCH GT Series, HUAWEI WATCH FIT Series, HUAWEI WATCH Buds, HUAWEI WATCH D/D2, or HUAWEI Band Series device, refer to Weather information on my HUAWEI watch/band is not up-to-date, or not available at all.
- Location services are enabled for your watch and the Weather app:
- On your watch, go to Settings > Security & privacy > Location Services and enable Location Services. If you are using a HUAWEI WATCH 5/Ultimate 2, go to Settings > Security & privacy > Location information and enable Access my location.
- On the watch, open Settings > Apps > Permission manager > Apps > Weather > Location, and enable Allow only while in use.
- Your watch is connected to a stable Wi-Fi or mobile data on your watch is enabled. For details, please refer to Connecting your watch to the Internet.
The watch cannot use an iPhone's network via Bluetooth. If you're using an iPhone, connect your watch to a Wi-Fi network or enable mobile data on your watch.
- After your watch is paired with your phone for the first time and you enter the watch home screen, the Watch Face Enhancement Service screen will display. Tap Agree. If you do not agree to the request, switch to a watch face (such as Griddy) with the weather display. The Watch Face Enhancement Service screen will display again. If you are using a HUAWEI WATCH 5/Ultimate 2, go to Settings > Security & privacy > Data & privacy and enable Home screen & faces. Disagreeing to the service request will result in the auto-update failure of the weather module on the watch home screen. In this case, only "--" will be displayed.
If all of the preceding conditions are met but the issue persists, troubleshoot the issue based on the symptom.

The HUAWEI Assistant·TODAY screen on my watch displays "Weather unavailable" or the Weather app displays a location error message
- When you use the watch for the first time or connect it to a new phone, the watch will sync your HUAWEI ID to your phone, causing the network connection to slow down. In this case, try refreshing the weather at a later time.
- If the issue persists, restart your watch and phone, and try again. If the issue remains unresolved, pair your watch with your phone again, and try refreshing the weather.
- You can also connect your watch to a Wi-Fi network or activate the watch eSIM service to use mobile data, and try refreshing the weather.
Weather on my watch is inconsistent with that on my phone
The watch and phone obtain weather information from different service providers and therefore weather information on your watch may be slightly different from that on your phone.
Swipe down on the Assistant∙TODAY screen of your watch, or open the Weather app on your watch and swipe down on the screen. It is normal for there to be a slight difference in the weather information between your watch and your phone.
Weather information on my watch is not automatically refreshed
- Weather information on your watch's weather widget does not refresh in real time (it refreshes every three hours). To obtain real-time weather information, connect your watch to a network and enter the Assistant·TODAY screen to trigger a widget update. Alternatively, swipe down on the home screen of the watch Weather app to refresh the weather.
- If your watch is disconnected from a network for over 24 hours, the watch home screen and Assistant·TODAY screen will display the current, highest, and lowest temperatures as "--". To update the weather information, connect the watch to a network, and swipe down on the Assistant·TODAY screen.
Slow updates of weather information
To obtain weather information, the Weather app needs to access your watch's location through the online location service. Weather data is sent by service providers, and the slow updates may be caused by a slow network. You can refer to the following table to check how to refresh the weather.

- When your watch is connected to a HUAWEI or third-party Android phone, your watch will preferentially use your phone's network via Bluetooth. Weak signal reception or a slow network will impact data transmission speeds on your watch, and result in slow weather updates. In this case, try refreshing the weather multiple times or switching to another network on your phone.
- If the issue persists, in Standard mode/Smart mode, connect your watch to a Wi-Fi network or activate the eSIM service to use mobile data, and try again. Swipe down on the watch home screen. If
is displayed at the bottom, your watch has been connected to a Wi-Fi network and is communicating properly. If
is displayed at the bottom, your watch has been enabled eSIM mobile data and is communicating properly.
My watch displays weather information about an incorrect location
If your watch displays weather information for an incorrect location, disconnect and then re-connect your watch to the Internet, disable and then re-enable location services or restart your watch, and then enter the Assistant·TODAY screen or swipe down on the home screen of the Weather app to refresh the weather information.
- In certain cases, for example when you are using your watch in an area close to the boundary of two regions, this issue may occur. This does not indicate any problem with your device.
Unable to find the Weather app on my watch
If you cannot find the Weather app on your watch, it may have been deleted by mistake. In this case, press the Up button on your watch, go to Settings > Apps > Apps from the app list, select Restore system apps (for WATCH 3 Series, find the entry at the bottom of System processes), tap Weather, and follow the onscreen instructions to restore the app.
