Unable to find the voice assistant on my watch

  • Ensure that the Language and Region settings in your phone system Settings are consistent with those set in the Huawei Health app.

Smart assistant isn't available in the watch Settings, and there's no response from touching the AI Voice icon on the HUAWEI Assistant·TODAY screen

Smart assistant won't be available in the watch Settings when AI Voice is disabled on your watch. In this case, go to Settings > Apps > Apps > System processes and enable AI Voice.

Unable to wake the voice assistant with voice commands

Using heycelia to wake the voice assistant is disabled by default. You'll need to go to Settings > Smart assistance > AI Voice and toggle on Wake by voice. Then try again.

Unable to wake the voice assistant on the watch when the watch screen is locked, turned off, or steady on

  1. It is by design that the voice command heycelia can't wake the voice assistant when the watch screen is off or steady on. In this case, press and hold the Down button to wake the voice assistant, or turn on the screen and then use the voice command.
  2. If you've set a watch PIN, it is by design that the voice assistant is unavailable when the screen is locked. In this case, unlock your watch and then use the voice command.

The watch displays "Check your network connection and try again." after I wake the voice assistant, or voice playback freezes

A valid network connection is required for using the voice assistant on the watch. Troubleshoot as follows:

  • The watch cannot use an iPhone's network via Bluetooth. If you're using an iPhone, connect your watch to a WLAN or enable the eSIM cellular network.
  • If you're using other phones, taking a HUAWEI phone as an example, it automatically disconnects from the network when its screen is locked for more than 30 minutes. In this case, unlock the phone, check that the network connection returns to normal and that the Huawei Health app is running in the background, and then wake the voice assistant again. If you want to keep your phone connected to the Internet, go to Settings > Battery > More battery settings and toggle on Stay connected while asleep. The actual path may vary depending on the phone specifications. For details, contact your phone manufacturer.
  • If your watch is disconnected from your phone, swipe down on the watch home screen, turn on the switch for WLAN or mobile data, and then wake the voice assistant again.

Unable to wake the voice assistant during a call on the watch

It is by design that the voice assistant can't be launched during a call on the watch or during a call on the phone when your watch is connected to your phone over Bluetooth. In this case, wake the voice assistant after the call ends.

The Raise to wake voice assistant feature does not respond or responds slowly on my HUAWEI WATCH 4 Series device

Make sure that Raise to wake is enabled (by going to Settings > Smart assistance > AI Voice > Raise to wake), and then perform the following steps to improve responsiveness:

  • Keep your watch snugly on your wrist.
  • Raise your wrist to bring your watch to the level of your mouth to turn on the screen (which needs rotating your watch face inwards at the same time by at least 30°) and then say your command clearly and immediately, such as "Tell me a joke".

  • Make sure to raise and rotate your wrist simultaneously, as the Raise to wake feature can't be triggered by just wrist rotations.
     
    • If you've set a watch PIN, unlock your watch first and then raise your wrist to wake the voice assistant.
    • If AOD is enabled on your watch and Raise to show AOD is selected, the Raise to wake voice assistant feature will not work. In this case, make sure the watch face is displayed and then raise your wrist to wake the voice assistant, or you can switch to Raise to show watch face to keep the Raise to wake voice assistant feature working.
