HUAWEI tablet FreeScript does not work |
Perform the following to troubleshoot:
Ensure that your tablet supports FreeScript.
Your tablet must run HarmonyOS 2 or later and can work with styluses. For details, see Features supported on HUAWEI M-Pencil (2nd/3rd generation) when paired with a tablet.
Ensure that the app or text box you are using supports FreeScript.
- Apps: Open HUAWEI Browser. If FreeScript works in the address box of HUAWEI Browser but not in other apps, there may be compatibility issues with the apps. To ensure a smooth experience, this feature is temporarily disabled and will be enabled again after it is adapted to those apps. In this case, you can use a soft keyboard for input. We have contacted the corresponding vendors to resolve the issue. Please wait patiently. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.
- Text boxes: Due to the protection of your input information against theft and restrictions implemented by third-party apps, the text boxes in the following apps do not support FreeScript: security & password apps, game apps, and note-taking apps (to prevent handwritten notes being affected). Additionally, some customized text boxes of certain apps (such as Quark Browser) do not support FreeScript.
Ensure that the stylus is connected properly.
HarmonyOS 4.2 or earlier: Go to
> Accessibility features > Stylus and check whether the stylus information is displayed properly. If not, disable Bluetooth, enable it again, and reconnect the stylus.Ensure that FreeScript is enabled.
HarmonyOS 4.2 or earlier: Go to
> Accessibility features > Stylus > FreeScript and turn on the switch.Ensure that you are using the correct writing method.
- You need to use a stylus to write. FreeScript will not work when you use your finger to write.
- FreeScript has requirements about the position of the stylus tip when you are writing. It is recommended that you put the stylus tip in or near a text box. Otherwise, your operation may be identified as a misoperation.
If the stylus is connected, FreeScript is enabled, you are using the correct writing method, but the issue persists, perform the following to troubleshoot.
- Remove any non-HUAWEI magnetic case from the stylus as they may cause FreeScript to be unavailable. Use a standard HUAWEI protective case instead.
- Attach the stylus again.
Steps 1 and 2 apply only to HarmonyOS 4.2 or earlier.
- Disable FreeScript and enable it again.
- Disconnect the Bluetooth, wait for at least 20 seconds, and reconnect the stylus.
- Press and hold the Power button to turn off the screen and turn it on again. If the issue persists, restart the device. (Press and hold the Power button for at least 15 seconds, or the Volume down and Power buttons at the same time for at least 10 seconds to forcibly restart the device until the device vibrates and displays the power-on icon.)
- Update the tablet and apps to their latest versions: Some issues will be resolved by updating the tablet and apps. Please stay tuned for version updates and update the tablet and apps at your earliest convenience.
- If the issue persists, contact the Huawei customer service hotline or go to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
