Problem

The display effect in HDR mode is poor (Picture mode is grayed out, and display mode and brightness cannot be adjusted).

Cause

1. HDR mode needs to be used together with HDR resources. Using non-HDR resources may affect how HDR looks.

2. HDR mode has been calibrated to improve its display. In order to ensure an optimal HDR experience, the brightness and color cannot be adjusted in this mode.

3. The host hardware does not meet the requirements for enabling HDR mode.

Solution

1. Check whether the graphics card model and interface type as well as the HDMI cable model meet Microsoft's HDR display requirements.

2. Right-click a blank area of the desktop and click Display settings from the shortcut menu.

3. Go to Display > Windows HD Color settings.

4. Under Display capabilities, enable or disable Use HDR.

1. The operations need to be performed in Extend mode when an external monitor is connected.
2. You will be able to see the HDR switch once you have selected the monitor.
