[HUAWEI] Issues of replying to SMS messages on my watch/band

Update your watch/band and the Huawei Health app to their latest versions. Make sure that Huawei Health is linked with your watch/band and is running in the background. If the issue still persists, troubleshoot based on the applicable scenario.

Some wearable device models do not support SMS message replies. This feature will also become unavailable when the watch/band is connected to an iPhone.

The message "Open the Health app and grant the Messaging permission. Unable to reply without the permission." displays

To enable SMS message replies on your watch/band, you'll need to grant Huawei Health the Messaging permission. To do so (taking a HUAWEI phone as an example):

On your phone, go to Settings > Apps/Apps & services > Apps > Huawei Health > Permissions, and grant the permissions for reading SMS/MMS messages and sending SMS messages.

After I touch Quick replies, the Huawei Health app displays the message "Unable to obtain device info. Please go back and reopen this screen."

After the first pairing, data syncing will take a while. Please wait for about 30 seconds before using the feature.

When I reply to a message, garbled characters display, the entered content is replaced, or I'm not able to enter anymore (applicable only to WATCH 3 Series and WATCH 4 Series)

You can only enter about 500 letters and punctuation marks or 35 emoticons when replying to an SMS message on your watch/band. When the number of characters entered reaches the upper limit, you will not be able to enter anymore, and garbled characters may display or the entered content may be replaced. In this case, shorten the length of your reply.

The maximum number of characters may vary depending on the language.

The recipient does not receive your reply, or you receive a prompt indicating that your reply failed to send and asking you to check whether your watch/band is connected to your phone and whether your phone bill has been paid

  1. Make sure that your phone has a stable network signal and is not out of credit.
  2. If your watch/band is connected to a third-party Android phone, the phone may display a message notifying you that you will be charged for sending SMS messages via third-party apps (such as Huawei Health). If you don't confirm the charge right away and allow it, the message sending will be blocked. In this case, you will need to grant the permission of message charges on your phone. For detailed about how to do so, contact your phone's customer service.

After I use my watch/band to reply to an SMS message received on SIM card 1, the reply turns out to be sent from SIM card 2

This could happen when your watch/band is connected to a third-party phone, because SIM card recognition errors occur in the background due to the phone system issues. Please consult with your phone's manufacturer to troubleshoot.

If the issue persists, call the Huawei consumer service hotline for further assistance.
