Unpacking the printer
Unpacking the printer |
It is recommended that you leave the new printer in an indoor environment for 2 to 4 hours before installation if the indoor and outdoor temperatures differ greatly. Otherwise, the printing quality will be affected due to the optical glass surface fogging up after the sudden change in temperature.
Step 1: Install the printer.
- Remove tape: Remove the printer's packaging and all orange tape.
- Do not forget to remove the adhesive tape on the back of the printer and inside the paper tray.
- Open the front door of the printer before removing the adhesive tape on the toner cartridge.
- Place the printer in a cool and ventilated place as close to the router as possible to ensure stable Wi-Fi signal reception. Reserve a space of at least 10 cm behind the back of the printer.
- Load the paper: Pull out the paper tray completely, pinch the fixed handle at the rear of the paper tray and pull it backward, and load the paper flat in the tray (and ensure that the paper volume does not exceed the upper limit). Adjust the rear and left baffles to secure the paper, and push the paper tray back in.
- Power on: Plug in the power cable and turn on the power switch.
Step 2: Connect the printer to a network.
Before using a printer, it is recommended that you connect the printer to a home or enterprise router network in wired or wireless mode so that other mobile phones, tablets, and computers on the same network can use the printer conveniently.
Printers support 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi but not 5 GHz Wi-Fi or portal hotspots (that is, Wi-Fi hotspots that require web page authentication) in places such as airports and hotels. If no network is available, skip this section. For details, see Connect my phone, tablet, or computer to a HUAWEI laser printer when no Wi-Fi network is available.
- Method 1: Configure the network for a printer using a mobile phone or tablet (home and individual users)
- Connect your phone/tablet to the router's Wi-Fi network, and enable Bluetooth and location information. The following figure uses a HarmonyOS phone as an example.
- Search for HUAWEI AI Life in AppGallery or scan the QR code to download and install the latest version of the HUAWEI AI Life app.
If you have already installed the HUAWEI AI Life app on your phone or tablet, open the app and follow the onscreen instructions to update it if a new version is found. If no update message is displayed, go to Me > Settings > Check for updates. If a new version is found, update the app.
- Open the HUAWEI AI Life app, follow the onscreen instructions, touch LOG IN, register or log in to your HUAWEI ID, touch the plus icon (+), and touch Add device.
- After the app detects the printer, touch CONNECT, confirm the Wi-Fi name and enter the password of the router to which the printer is connected, and touch NEXT. After the system displays a message indicating that the printer is connected, set the printer location, name, and shared devices, and touch DONE.
If no printer is found or the connection fails, press and hold the network button on the printer for more than 3 seconds until the indicator of the network button blinks white. The printer enters the network configuration state again.
- Touch the newly generated printer card in AI Life. Wait until the printer plug-in is downloaded, indicating that the network configuration for the printer is complete. You can share the printer with other phones, tablets, or computers.
- Method 2: Configure the network for a printer using a computer (enterprise and team users)
- Connect the computer to the router's Wi-Fi network, or use a network cable to connect the computer to the router. Use the USB cable delivered with the printer to connect the computer to the printer.
- Open a browser on the computer, visit the official website of the printer (HUAWEI PixLab X1: https://consumer.huawei.com/en/printers/pixlab-x1/), find Driver download or Drivers, and download the client installation program package named "HUAWEI Printer (Laser)_XXX" based on your computer's system version.
If your computer cannot access the Internet, download the Huawei Print client to a USB flash drive and copy the client to the target computer.
- Decompress the downloaded package to a folder on the computer, and double-click the Huawei Print client installation program.
- For Windows computers: After the installation package is decompressed, a folder is generated. Open the folder and decompress it again. Double-click the .exe file whose file type is Application, for example, PixLab_Series for Windows v1.122.exe, to open the Huawei Print client installation program. In the dialog box that is displayed, click Yes.
- For macOS computers: Unzip the installation package and double-click the file whose file type is Application, for example, HUAWEI PixLab Series, to open the Huawei Print client installation program.
- For Linux computers: Decompress the installation package and double-click the .sh file, for example, install.sh, and choose Run in Terminal. In the Terminal window, enter the user name and password for logging in to the computer, to open the Huawei Print client installation program.
The Ubuntu OS is used as an example for Linux computers. The actual interface of those running Red Hat OS may vary slightly.
- On the Choose connection method and install Huawei Print screen, read and agree to the Huawei Print User Agreement, and select With a USB cable.
- Confirm the Wi-Fi name and enter password of the router to be connected to the printer, and click NEXT.
- After the Added successfully message is displayed, click DONE. The Huawei Print client named PixLab Series_Huawei Print will be displayed on the desktop.
- After the network is successfully configured, you can share the printer with more computers.
- For more information about network configuration modes, click the links in the table.
