Unable to power on the computer by pressing the fingerprint button on the Huawei wireless keyboard

Problem

When the computer is powered off, in sleep mode, or in hibernation mode, pressing the fingerprint button cannot power on the computer.

Cause

  1. The fingerprint button on the Huawei wireless keyboard can only be used to power on the paired HUAWEI MateStation X. Other brands of desktop computers do not support this function.
  2. The Huawei wireless keyboard supports two Bluetooth pairing modes. Pressing the fingerprint button to power on the device is only available in dialog box pairing mode.

    a. Dialog box pairing mode

Press and hold the Bluetooth pairing button for 3s to initiate Bluetooth pairing. The HUAWEI MateStation X will then automatically display a dialog box.

    b. Search for Bluetooth devices

Press and hold the Bluetooth pairing button for 3s to initiate Bluetooth pairing.

To establish a Bluetooth connection in Windows 10, click the Start icon and then the Settings icon, go to Devices > Bluetooth & other devices, search for HUAWEI Keyboard CD33, and start pairing.

3. You cannot power on the device by pressing the fingerprint button when energy saving mode has been enabled in the BIOS/EC.

Solution

  1. Check whether the paired host is the HUAWEI MateStation X. Other hosts do not support this function.
  2. Check whether the HUAWEI MateStation X is connected with the keyboard through dialog box pairing mode. If not, it indicates that this function is not supported.
  3. Check the Bluetooth pairing connection status. The keyboard icon is displayed in the lower right corner of the desktop after a connection has been set up.

4. Check whether energy saving mode has been enabled in the BIOS settings. If so, disable it in the BIOS settings by restarting or powering on the device, pressing F2 to enter the BIOS screen, and going to Advanced > EUP mode > Disable. You can then power on the device by pressing the fingerprint button.
