Network configuration via 5 GHz Wi-Fi for my HUAWEI laser printer fails

HUAWEI PixLab X1 is used as an example.

Problem

Using the AI Life app for network configuration via a 5 GHz network for the printer fails.

Cause

The printer supports network configuration via 2.4 GHz hotspot, but does not support network configuration via 5 GHz hotspot.

Solution

Check the current Wi-Fi frequency band. If it's 5 GHz, select 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi instead for network configuration. To check the frequency band of the connected Wi-Fi network, perform the following steps:
  • Method 1: View in Settings

Take a HUAWEI phone as an example. Connect your phone to a Wi-Fi network, go to Settings > WLAN, and touch the name of the connected Wi-Fi network to view its details. If 5 GHz is displayed next to Frequency, your device is connecting to a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network. If 2.4 GHz is displayed, your device is connecting to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.

  • Method 2: View on the web management screen

The address of the web-based management page may be different from normal ones on carrier customized routers. Use the actual address printed on the nameplate on the bottom of the router or consult the carrier.

The following uses a HUAWEI router as an example:

    1. Connect your phone/tablet/computer to the router's Wi-Fi network, or use a network cable to connect the computer's network port to the router's LAN port. (If the network port has a WAN/LAN identifier, you do not need to distinguish between the WAN and LAN ports.)
    2. In the browser address bar, enter "192.168.3.1" and log in to the router's web-based management page. If you are using a phone/tablet to connect to the router's Wi-Fi network, touch in the upper right corner of the screen to switch to the computer version.
    3. Touch or click Terminal Management to view the details.
      • For some routers, you can select a connected device from the drop-down list.
      • Some routers can be viewed on the page.
