Some devices wired connected to the router cannot access the Internet

If the router's indicator is steady green, it is connected to the Internet. If your computer connected to the router using a network cable would not connect to the Internet, perform the following to troubleshoot:

1. Check whether the computer can access the router's web-based management page

  1. Use a network cable to connect the computer to the router's LAN port.
  2. In the browser's address bar on the computer, enter 192.168.3.1 to check whether the computer can visit the router's web-based management page.

2. Check whether the computer can obtain an IP address

By default, the router's LAN IP address is 192.168.3.1, and the DHCP server is enabled to automatically assign an IP address in the 192.168.3.2 to 192.168.3.254 segment to devices connected to the router downstream. If your computer's IP address is not in the specified segment, it cannot access the Internet. Perform the following steps to change its IP address:

  1. Use a network cable to connect the computer to the router's LAN port. Click the network connection icon in the lower right corner of your computer desktop, then select Network and Sharing Center.
  2. Click Change adapter settings. Right-click Local Area Connection and select Status.

  3. In the Local Area Connection Status dialog box, click Details. If the computer's IP address is not in the 192.168.3.2 to 192.168.3.254 segment, close the dialog box. In the Local Area Connection Status dialog box, click Properties.

  4. Double-click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4). Select Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically, and click OK.

If the DHCP server is disabled for the router, the computer cannot automatically obtain an IP address. In this case, manually set an IP address in the 192.168.3.2 to 192.168.3.254 segment, for example, 192.168.3.2.

3. Check whether parental control is set for the computer

Parental control specifies which devices can access the Internet at which times. To check whether parental control is set for your computer, use either of the following methods:

  • Method 1: Using the web-based management page on a computer
  1. Connect a computer with Internet access to your router's Wi-Fi network. You can also connect the computer to your router's LAN port using a network cable. In the browser's address bar on the computer, enter 192.168.3.1 and log in to the router's web-based management page.
  2. Go to More Functions > Security Settings > Parental Control, and check whether your device that is unable to access the Internet is on the Internet Access Time Limit list of Parental Control. If so, disable or delete the parental control rule and check whether the device can access the Internet.

  • Method 2: Using the HUAWEI AI Life app on a phone
    1. Connect your phone to the router's Wi-Fi network, and open the HUAWEI AI Life app.
    2. On the home screen of the HUAWEI AI Life app, touch the router concerned to access the router management screen.
    3. Go to Show more > Parental controls to check whether a parental control rule is set for your device. If so, disable or delete the rule (swipe left and touch the delete button). Then check whether the device can access the Internet.
