How can I change the shortcut menu style from Windows 11 to Windows 10?

Windows 11 adopts a new shortcut menu style. You can go to Show more options in the new shortcut menu to switch to the traditional style. If you would like to set the Windows 10 style as the default when you right-click to open the shortcut menu, perform the following operations:

To do this, you need to modify the registry, which may result in errors. It is recommended that you back up important data in advance, and only proceed under professional supervision.

  1. Press Win+R to open the Run window, enter Regedit, and press Enter.

  2. Open the Registry Editor and find HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\CLASSES\CLSID.
  3. Right-click CLSID, create an item named {86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}, and press Enter to save it.

  4. Right-click the newly created item, create another item named InprocServer32, and press Enter to save it.

  5. Select the newly created item InprocServer32, double-click (Default) in the right pane, and press Enter.

  6. After saving and closing the Registry Editor, restart your computer and right-click on the desktop. The shortcut menu will now be in the Windows 10 style.

To restore to the default Windows 11 shortcut style, open the Registry Editor, find HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\CLASSES\CLSID\{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}, right-click InprocServer32, select Delete from the shortcut menu, and restart your computer.
