How do I reconfigure my network if I want to replace the main router with one of the original secondary routers and add another HarmonyOS Mesh+ router

Only applicable to the HUAWEI WiFi Q2 (3 Pack).

  1. Restore the secondary router that will be configured as the main router to its factory settings. Then open the HUAWEI AI Life app and follow the Internet access wizard to complete the configuration process for your main router.
  2. Restore the other secondary router to its factory settings and place it in a suitable location, then connect its power supply to automatically establish network connections.
  3. Connect the new HarmonyOS Mesh+ router with your new main router through the HUAWEI AI Life app, H button, or a direct cable connection.

    Method 1: Pairing through the HUAWEI AI Life app

    Place the HarmonyOS Mesh+ router (new or factory reset) near your main router (recommended within 1 meter) and connect its power supply. Open the HUAWEI AI Life app, which will automatically detect pairable devices nearby. Follow the onscreen prompts to pair your HarmonyOS Mesh+ router.

    If a notification prompt does not appear, touch the Add button in the upper right corner of the app's home screen.

    Method 2: Pairing through the H button

    The following example demonstrates how to pair two HUAWEI WiFi Q2 routers:

    1. Place the HarmonyOS Mesh+ router (new or factory reset) near your main router (recommended within 1 meter) and connect its power supply.

    2. Wait approximately 1 minute until the indicator on the main router flashes. At this point, press the H button on the main router and the indicator will flash faster. Once the indicator on the HarmonyOS Mesh+ router turns steady blue, the pairing is complete.

      After the pairing is successful, the Wi-Fi name and password of the HarmonyOS Mesh+ router will sync with the main router. You can improve your Wi-Fi coverage by placing your secondary routers accordingly. For the best results, it is recommended that there are no more than 2 walls in between your main and secondary routers that may potentially obstruct your Wi-Fi signal.

      Method 3: Direct cable connection

      Connect the LAN port on the main router to the WAN port on the secondary router using an Ethernet cable. Once connected, the routers will establish network connections automatically without manual configuration (the following illustration shows the connection between two HUAWEI WiFi Q2 routers).

    In wired networking mode, ensure that the main router is connected to an upstream network using an Ethernet cable, and that its indicator remain steady blue.
