The touchpad of my HUAWEI computer sometimes does not respond to touch commands

Problem

Cause

Problem 1

The menu is not displayed on the desktop after the user presses the right button on the touchpad.

Windows Explorer is abnormal.

Problem 2

The touchpad sometimes does not respond to touch commands.

  • Your finger may have touched the touchpad and made too much contact with it (for example, the whole finger was placed on the touchpad area), or multiple fingers came into contact with the touchpad.
  • The touchpad feature is disabled.
  • The touchpad driver is disabled or unstable.
  • The Windows OS is faulty.

Problem 3

After the user connects the computer to a mouse, goes to Settings > Devices/Bluetooth & devices > Touchpad, deselects Leave touchpad on when a mouse is connected, and disconnects the mouse from the computer, the touchpad cannot be used.

This issue is caused by incompatibility of the third-party software virtual mouse driver (HID-compliant mouse).

Solution

  • Solution to Problem 1:

    Restart Windows Explorer.

  • Solution to Problem 2:
    1. Tap or swipe on the touchpad with a fingertip, which is equivalent to the clicking or swiping operations of a mouse.
    2. Press any key on the keyboard, or press the Power button to wake up the system, before performing touchpad operations.
    3. Check and enable the Touchpad feature.
      1. Press Win () + I to open the Settings window (or click the Windows icon on the desktop, and click Settings ()), and select Bluetooth & devices (or Devices).

      2. Select Touchpad and turn on the Touchpad switch.

    4. Right-click the Windows icon in the lower left corner to open Device Manager. Expand Human Interface Devices, right-click HID-compliant touch pad, and select Enable device from the shortcut menu. If the issue persists, right-click HID-compliant touch pad, select Uninstall device, restart the computer, and try again.

    5. Update the BIOS firmware to the latest version via Huawei PC Manager.
      1. Open Huawei PC Manager and go to Optimization > Drivers.

      2. In the list of drivers to be updated, select BIOS and click UPDATE.

  • Solution to Problem 3:

Press Win+X. Go to Device Manager > Mice and other pointing devices, right-click HID-compliant mouse, and select Disable device or Uninstall device.

By default, the system allows only one virtual mouse driver. Third-party software can map multiple virtual mouse drivers. If multiple virtual mouse drivers exist, disable the virtual mouse drivers one by one to see if the issue is resolved. If the issue is resolved after certain virtual mouse drivers are disabled, right-click the invalid virtual mouse drivers and choose Uninstall device.
