Switch between hotkeys and function keys

Hotkey functions

You can use keyboard shortcuts, which are in Hotkey mode by default, such as the F1 to F12 keys in the first row of the computer keyboard and some keys with special icons (such as , , and ) or characters (such as PrtSc and Ins) in the upper left corner, to quickly perform some operations. (For details, see Table 1.)

The keyboard keys vary depending on the model. Actual product shall prevail.

Reduce screen brightness.

Increase screen brightness.

Enable or disable the keyboard backlight, and adjust the keyboard backlight brightness.

If there is no icon on this key, it indicates that the keyboard does not support backlight.

Play or pause.

The F3 key on the keyboard of certain 2-in-1 laptop models is shown in the left figure. If there is no icon on this key, it indicates that this key does not support playback or pause control.

Mute or unmute.

Turn down the volume.

Turn up the volume.

Enable or disable the microphone.

If there is no microphone icon () on the key, it indicates that the key does not support the feature of enabling or disabling the microphone.

Lock the screen.

The F7 key on the keyboard of certain 2-in-1 laptop models is shown in the left figure. If there is no lock icon on this key, it indicates that this key does not support the feature of locking the screen.

  • Switch the screen projection mode (applicable to Windows computers that are preinstalled with Huawei PC Manager before delivery).

    For details about how to switch the screen projection mode, see Connecting the computer to other devices such as external displays, projectors, and TVs. You can also use the Win+P shortcut key to switch the screen projection mode.

  • Switch the display mode (applicable to computers running the UOS system).

Enable or disable Wi-Fi.

Enable Airplane mode.

The F9 key on the keyboard of certain 2-in-1 laptop models is shown in the left figure. If there is no airplane icon () on this key, it indicates that this key does not support the feature of enabling Airplane mode.

  • Open Huawei PC Manager (applicable to Windows computers that are preinstalled with Huawei PC Manager before delivery).
  • Open Control Panel (applicable to computers running the UOS system).

Open settings.

The F10 key on the keyboard of certain 2-in-1 laptop models is shown in the left figure. If there is no settings icon () on this key, it indicates that this key does not support the feature of opening settings.

Switch between hotkeys and function keys

If you want to use hotkeys F1 to F12 as function keys, for example, use F5 as the refresh key when browsing web pages, you can use either of the following methods to switch between hotkeys and function keys:

  • Method 1: Press the Fn key to quickly switch
    1. Press the Fn key until the Fn key indicator turns on. F1 and F2 will then work as function keys.
    2. Press the Fn key again until the Fn key indicator turns off. The keys will then work as hotkeys.
  • Method 2: Use the Huawei PC Manager (applicable only to HUAWEI Windows computers that are preinstalled with Huawei PC Manager before delivery)
    1. Click on the taskbar at the bottom or on the desktop to open Huawei PC Manager. Click in the upper right corner and select Settings.

    2. Click Accessibility (or System settings) and select Prioritize functions.

    3. If you want to use the keys as hotkeys, select Prioritize hotkeys.
