You can connect devices, such as external monitors, projectors, and TVs, to your computer through wired or wireless connections. After the connection is complete, you can set the projection mode as required.
Detailed operations (Click the following link to go to the corresponding operation):
Wired connection
- Connect an HDMI or VGA cable to the HDMI/VGA or DP port of an external monitor or projector.
- Connect the HDMI/VGA or DP cable to the computer based on the port type.
- If the computer supports a USB-C port (with the DisplayPort function):
Connect a HUAWEI docking station to the USB-C port on your computer, and connect the other end of the HDMI/VGA or DP cable to the HDMI/VGA or DP port of the docking station.
If the monitor/projector supports a USB-C port, you can connect the computer via a USB-C cable.
- If the computer supports an HDMI port:
Connect the other end of the HDMI cable to the HDMI port of the computer.
Only certain device models come with this port.
- If the computer supports a USB-C port (with the DisplayPort function):
- Once connected, the external monitor or projector will display the same content as the computer. You can press F8 or
+ P on the computer's keyboard and select a projection mode from the Project list.
Wireless connection
- Follow the user guide to set up the wireless monitor, projector, or TV. Make sure that the devices have enabled the wireless connection feature and are visible to other devices.
Follow the user guide to set up the device, or contact the manufacturer's customer service for assistance.
- Enable the following feature on your computer:
- Press
+ I to open the Settings window, and go to System > Projection to this PC. Check whether Wireless Display is installed. If no, perform the following operations.
- Click (Windows 10: ), enter "wireless" in the search box, select Wireless Display in the search result, and click Next and then Finish.
- After the installation is complete, perform projection again.
- Press
- Press
+ K (or click the Notification Center icon in the lower right corner of the screen, and click Connect) to display the Cast list, select your desired/the target wireless device, and follow the onscreen instructions to finish setting up the projection.
- The content on the computer screen will then be projected to the connected monitor. You can press F8 or
+ P on the computer's keyboard and select a projection mode from the Project list.
Projection modes
- PC screen only: The content is displayed on the computer screen instead of the connected monitor. (If a wireless projector is connected to the computer, this option will be displayed as Disconnect.)
- Duplicate: The content is displayed on both the computer screen and the connected monitor.
- Extend: The content on your computer will appear as normal, but the connected monitor will only show the basic system setup. To display content (such as an app) from the computer, drag it to the other screen. The contents are separate from each other in this mode.
- Second screen only: All contents are displayed on the connected monitor instead of the computer.
