[HUAWEI] Raise to wake does not take effect on my band/watch

If your watch/band cannot be powered on, displays a black screen, or has other issues, refer to Power your watch on and off.

If Raise to wake does not take effect on your watch/band, perform the following steps:

  1. Enable Raise to wake.
    • This feature is enabled by default on the HUAWEI WATCH 3/4 Series watches. To check this, go to Settings > Accessibility features > Gestures > Raise to wake on your watch.
    • For other watches/bands: Open the Huawei Health app, go to the Devices screen, touch Device settings, and enable Raise to wake. If you are using the HUAWEI Band 4e, enable both Raise to wake and Rotate to switch screen.

  2. Exit sleep status/Sleep mode.

Raise to wake is not available in Sleep mode, so as to avoid disturbing your sleep. Press the side button on your watch/band or the virtual button on your band to exit Sleep mode and try using the Raise to wake feature again.

Sleep mode can be disabled from the shortcut menu on a HUAWEI WATCH 3/4 or HUAWEI WATCH GT 4 Series device, which can be accessed by swiping down on the watch face.

  3. Disable Do not disturb or Schedule.

The HUAWEI Band 8, HUAWEI WATCH 3/4 Series, and HUAWEI WATCH GT 3/4 Series devices support Raise to wake in Do not disturb mode. For other watches/bands, to use Raise to wake, you need to swipe down on the watch face to open the shortcut menu and disable Do not disturb.

  4. Disable Always On Display (AOD) watch faces.

If you have set an AOD watch face, Raise to wake will be disabled. Disable the AOD watch face, and use the Raise to wake feature again.

  5. Wear your watch/band in a correct manner.
    • Make sure that your band/watch is tightly fastened, and that it is positioned slightly above your wrist bone, with its screen facing upward.

    • Please note that you'll need to twist your wrist inward (towards your face) for the screen to turn on.
    • If you are lying down with your arms by your sides, raise your wrist to turn the screen on. If you are lying down with your arms on your chest, twist your wrist to turn the screen on.
  6. Restart your watch/band and relink it with the Huawei Health app.

If your watch/band is unable to restart properly, press and hold the side button for at least 12 seconds to forcibly restart it.

  7. Restore your device to its factory settings.

Restore your band/watch to its factory settings, and see if the issue is resolved. This will clear all of the data on it, so please sync your data to the cloud before doing so.

If the issue persists, take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
