Projection mode changes after closing and opening the lid of a laptop connected to the monitor

Problem

When the user has projected their laptop screen to the monitor in duplicate or extended mode and switched to secondary screen only mode, if the laptop lid is closed and reopened, the screen will switch to the previously used mode by default.

Cause

This is caused by the Windows default projection policy. When the laptop lid is reopened, if the laptop detects an external display, it will automatically switch the projection mode to the previously used mode.

Solution

Solution 1: After opening the laptop lid, manually switch the projection mode as follows:
  1. Right-click on the home screen and choose Display settings from the shortcut menu. This screen will be displayed:

  2. Select a projection mode you prefer from Multiple displays.

Solution 2: Press key combination Win+P to select the mode that you prefer.
