Unable to pair and connect my HUAWEI WATCH Buds

If the pairing fails, troubleshoot based on the following scenarios:

1 Unable to pair and connect my watch with my earbuds

2 Unable to pair and connect my watch with my phone

3 Unable to pair and connect my earbuds with my phone

Unable to pair and connect my watch with my earbuds

  • If your watch displays "Initialization failed. Charge the battery and try again.", this is because the battery level of your watch is too low. Charge your watch until the battery level is greater than 10% before trying again.

  • If your watch displays "Initialization failed. Please try again.", make sure that both earbuds are in the watch and that the cover is closed. Touch Try again to try pairing again. If the issue persists after several attempts, touch No and then Resume to return to the pairing screen, swipe up on the screen, and touch Reset.

Once you restore your watch to its factory settings, all of your personal data will be cleared, transportation card migration will be triggered (if available), and access cards and bank cards will be removed. Please exercise caution when doing this. Place your earbuds back inside the watch. The earbuds will be restored to their factory settings along with the watch.

For details about how to pair and connect your watch with a phone running Android, please refer to this. For details about how to pair and connect your watch with an iPhone, please refer to this.

If the pairing and connection fail, perform the following steps:

  1. Restart your watch, and disable and then re-enable Bluetooth on your phone.

Restart your watch, disable and then re-enable Bluetooth on your phone, and try pairing and connecting your devices again.

  2. Restore your phone's network settings.
    • Here we'll use a HUAWEI phone running EMUI 11.0 as an example. Go to Settings > System & updates > Reset > Reset network settings, touch Reset network settings at the bottom of the screen, restart the phone, and try pairing again.
    • Here we'll use an iPhone running iOS 16.0 as an example. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

Restoring your phone's network settings will not erase your phone's important data. It will only erase the information for the Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and mobile data networks that you had previously connected to.

  3. Restore your watch to its factory settings.

If the pairing still fails, restore your watch to its factory settings and pair it with your phone again. (Restoring your watch to its factory settings will clear all data from your watch. Please exercise caution when performing this operation.)

Unable to pair and connect my earbuds with my phone

  • When pairing your earbuds with your phone for the first time, if both your watch and phone display a message indicating a pairing failure, you'll need to touch Try again on either your watch or phone.

  • If your phone displays a message indicating a pairing failure with the earbuds, touch Skip on your phone. Later, if you need to connect your phone to the earbuds, open the Huawei Health app, touch Devices, go to the device details screen, touch Earbuds, touch Pairing in the pop-up window, and complete the connection between your earbuds and phone.

  • If the issue persists, place the earbuds in the case, restore your watch to its factory settings, and pair your watch with your phone again.
    • If you are using an iPhone, go to Settings > Bluetooth > MY DEVICES, find "HUAWEI WATCH Buds-XXX" and "HUAWEI W Buds", touch on the right, and select Forget This Device. You'll also need to delete the device in the HUAWEI Health app.

Before deleting a device in the Huawei Health app, manually sync data in the app as follows. Make sure that all the switches for syncing data to the cloud are turned on. To do so, open the Huawei Health app, go to Me > Privacy management, and enable Sync personal info to cloud, Sync fitness data to cloud, and Sync health data to cloud. Then go back to Me > Settings > Sync data manually, touch SYNC, and make sure that the status reaches 100% before deleting any devices.

If the issue remains unresolved, feel free to call the Huawei consumer service hotline for further assistance.
