Unable to project my screen while using a third-party app

If you fail to project your screen by tapping the TV icon or the button for projecting to a TV in the upper right corner of the video playback screen in a third-party app, perform the following steps:

Initial troubleshooting

1. Check whether the app or video source supports screen projection.

  • On the video playback screen, check whether the TV icon or Project button is displayed. If not, the app or video source may not support screen projection (due to version restrictions or copyright issues).
  • Suggested operation: Use the app's settings menu (by opening the third-party app, going to Settings > Help & Feedback/Online Customer Service) to report the issue and your requirements to the developer.

2. Make sure the network connection is good

  • For in-app screen projection, ensure that the phone/tablet and the TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network (using the same router). Common errors include:
    • The devices are connected to an optical modem and a router respectively (not on the same LAN).
    • A WLAN amplifier is used. (A device is connected to an amplifier and the other is connected to a router.)
    • For set-top box (STB) users, ensure that the STB is directly connected to a router in wired or wireless mode.
  • Suggested operation: Connect the devices to a router, restart all devices, and try again (see the next step).

3. Restart related devices

Connect your phone/tablet and TV to the same Wi-Fi network, and then
  • Restart the TV, STB, and router.
  • Close the video app and try screen projection again.

Device setting check

Phone

TV

Router

  • Open Settings, search for and access Wi-Fi+, and disable Wi-Fi+. (This feature may cause automatic network switching, which affects projection.)
  • In the TV settings, enable Multi-screen or DLNA service.
  • Suggestion: If you can't find this switch, contact your TV vendor's customer service.
  • Log in to the router's management screen, go to Device management > AP isolation, disable AP isolation (by going to Enter > Off > Save), and restart the router. Then try again.
  • HUAWEI routers do not support the AP isolation feature. Skip this step.

Deep reset

Reset network settings

Open Settings, search for and access Reset network settings, and tap Reset network settings. (This will clear the WLAN password, mobile data network, Bluetooth, and NearLink settings and records, but will not delete other data or settings.)

If the issue persists

If the issue remains unresolved or you encounter any difficulties, please contact the Huawei customer service hotline for assistance.
