My HUAWEI phone/tablet heats up and charges slowly during system update, installation, batch update, or device clone

Cause:

The running of a new device or a system update occupies a lot of CPU resources to read and write data. A series of optimizations will run in the background, for example, some apps need to be re-adapted, Gallery will be re-organized, and files will be fully scanned to avoid security risks. All these will increase power consumption. When the CPU processes a large amount of data, the power consumption increases and the device heats up more significantly, which is normal.

In addition, charging will slow down due to higher device temperatures and will return to normal after the system update or installation is complete.

Suggestion:

  • Place your phone/tablet in a ventilated place to prevent it from overheating due to poor heat dissipation when performing the preceding operations.
  • Do not use your phone/tablet while charging it to prevent your device from overheating. Therefore, perform the preceding operations when the battery level is sufficient.
  • Open the My HUAWEI app and go to Support > Checkup > Battery > Overheating/Short battery life, to close power-intensive apps or follow the suggested optimizations.

If your phone/tablet heats up during normal use, or fails to cool down after you restart it and place it idle for a while, back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
