A startup message with orange, yellow, or red text is displayed after my HUAWEI phone/tablet is powered on

Problem:

After the device is powered on, a startup message with orange, yellow, or red text is displayed, as shown in the following figures.

Solution:

  1. If you can access the system, update the system to the latest version. (Skip this step if your device is running EMUI 9.0 or later, as the Download latest full package feature is not available in these versions.)
    1. Press the Power button to access the system. If the system can be accessed, back up your important data first.
    2. Then, open Settings, search for and access Updater, and go to > Download latest full package to download the latest full update package and update the system to the latest version.
  2. If you cannot access the system, restore the system.

Recovering the system may erase your personal data. If your device can be powered on, remember to back up your data immediately.

Method 1: Restore the system using the system restoration feature.

    1. Enter eRecovery or eUpdate mode.
      1. Power off the device and keep it in charging status.
      2. Press and hold the Power button and Volume up button at the same time. After the device vibrates, wait for 5 seconds to enter the system restoration screen.
        • If Require screen lock to power off is enabled, press and hold the Power button, select Restart, and then perform this operation.
        • For phones that do not have physical volume buttons, press the Power button five times consecutively after the device is powered on and vibrates.
      3. Go to Update mode > eRecovery mode or eUpdate mode.
    1. Download the latest version and start restoration.
      1. Go to Download latest version and restore > Download and restore.
      2. Follow the onscreen instructions to connect to a Wi-Fi network. The system will then automatically obtain the installation package information and finish the download.
      3. Once the download is complete, the system will automatically update and restart. (Do not perform any operations during the update process. The update may take some time, so please be patient.)

Method 2: Use HiSuite to restore your device.

    • Some devices do not support system restoration using HiSuite. Please refer to the actual device specifications.
    • If your device supports this method, update HiSuite to the latest version on your computer before using it. You can download it from the official website: https://consumer.huawei.com/en/support/hisuite/.
    • For details, refer to the following:
      1. Install HiSuite on your computer.

Install the latest version of HiSuite from the official website.

      2. Enter Fastboot mode.

        1. Power off the device and connect it to your computer using a USB cable.

        2. Press and hold the Volume down button and Power button at the same time for several seconds to enter Fastboot mode (the robot screen). (If your device does not have physical volume buttons, press the Power button ten times consecutively until the screen turns on.)

      3. Start system restoration.
        1. Go to HiSuite > System restoration > Continue > Start.
        2. Wait until the restoration is complete. (Do not disconnect the USB cable during system restoration. It may take some time for the restoration to complete, so please be patient.)
      4. Wait until the system automatically updates and restarts.

After the system restoration is complete, the device will automatically enter the system update mode. After the system update is complete, the device will automatically restart. (The system will be restored to the specified version and cannot be selected.)

If the issue persists

If the issue remains unresolved, back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance. If it is inconvenient for you to go to a Huawei Customer Service Center, you can apply for postal repair from the My HUAWEI app or Huawei customer business website.
