Paired with my phone, the Sony Bluetooth headphones are muted after I switch the audio decoding format

Problem:

The Sony Bluetooth headphones become muted unexpectedly after the user switches the audio decoding format on the phone.

Cause:

This is caused by an incompatibility between your phone and the DSEE HX function supported by some Sony Bluetooth headsets. When the audio decoding format is set to an audio decoding format other than SBC and AAC, the DSEE HX's AI noise cancelling function, which is enabled by default on some Sony Bluetooth headsets, may not work properly.

Solution:

  1. Follow the user manual of your headset to re-enable the DSEE HX function.

  2. Use the Headphones Connect app of your Sony headset to re-enable the DSEE HX function.
