Unable to transfer to my HUAWEI watch the music that has been downloaded on my phone

  • Music transfer to watch is unavailable when paired with an iPhone. If a factory reset is not required when pairing your watch with a new phone, use an Android or EMUI phone (logged in with your HUAWEI ID) to transfer music to your watch, and then reconnect your watch to your iPhone for music playback.

To transfer to your watch the local music on your phone:

Open the Huawei Health app, touch Devices and then the card for your connected watch, go to Music > Manage music > Add songs > Local songs (alternatively, go to Music > Add), select your desired tracks from the displayed list, and touch in the upper right corner of the screen. (If the Music option is unavailable, it indicates that this feature is not supported.)

If the Add songs screen does not display the tracks you wish to add or music transfer fails, perform the following to troubleshoot the issue.

Check the music format

  • Only tracks in supported music formats will display on the Add songs screen. Supported formats vary depending on the paired watch. For details, refer to the requirements on the Add songs screen of the Huawei Health app.

    Product

    Supported Music Format

    HUAWEI WATCH 3 Series/HUAWEI WATCH 4 Series

MP3, AAC, WAV, FLAC, OGG, M4A, OPUS, AMR, and IMY

HUAWEI WATCH GT 3 Series/HUAWEI WATCH GT 4 Series/HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 Series/HUAWEI WATCH Ultimate

MP3, AAC, WAV, FLAC, M4A, and OPUS

HUAWEI WATCH GT Runner/HUAWEI WATCH FIT 2/HUAWEI WATCH Buds/HUAWEI WATCH FIT 3

MP3, AAC, WAV, FLAC, M4A, and OPUS

    Others

    MP3, AAC, and WAV

  • To view the format of a song, go to HUAWEI Music > Me > Local, touch next to a song and then , and you'll be taken to the Song info screen where you can view the size, standard, path, and format of the song.

  • For local songs downloaded from third-party music apps, check whether the songs meet the format requirements using HUAWEI Music. To do so, go to HUAWEI Music > Me > Local, touch in the upper right corner and then Scan local songs, and check the box for Don't find encrypted songs. If the target songs do not display, it indicates that their formats aren't supported for music transfer.

AAC and M4A music files can only be transferred to and played on your watch when their duration is 10 minutes or less and when their file size is 100 MB or less.

Try transferring other songs or audio files in other supported formats

Copyrights of some music may be unavailable for the watch. If you wish to play such songs on your watch, subscribe to the HUAWEI Music Premium PLUS membership.

Another possible cause for the transfer failure is an incompatible bitrate. In this case, try transferring other music or audio files in other supported formats.

Change the file storage path and try again

If you're using a third-party Android phone and the Add songs screen does not display the tracks you wish to add, try moving these music files to the Music folder on your phone (Files > Storage > Music).

Take a Meizu phone as an example: Go to Files > Audio, touch and hold down on a desired song, touch Move, and select the Music folder.

Actual path may vary by phone brand and system version. Consult with your phone's vendor for assistance.

If the issue persists

If none of the above resolves the problem, call the Huawei customer service hotline for assistance. We will do our best to address your needs.
