Unable to use the HUAWEI Smart Keyboard after it is connected to the host device

  • The keyboard has run out of power.
  • The physical keys on the keyboard are damaged.
  • The tablet is abnormal.
  • The keyboard has been connected to multiple devices.
  • The keyboard has been paired but disconnected.

Solution 1

  1. Go to List of products compatible with HUAWEI tablet keyboards to check whether your tablet is compatible with your keyboard model.
  2. Attach the bottom of the keyboard flatly to the groove or the location where the magnetic force is the greatest.
  3. Toggle on the switch on the right side of the smart keyboard and ensure that it is green when you connect the smart keyboard to the tablet.
  4. Open Settings and search for and enable Bluetooth.
  5. The smart keyboard can be charged with a charger. To do this, connect a USB-C charging cable to the charging port on the right side of the smart keyboard.
  6. If you touch CANCEL when the connection dialog box is displayed, wait for 3 minutes and then attach the keyboard to the host device again, or turn off and then on Bluetooth on the host device and then attach the keyboard again.

Solution 2

  1. Turn off and on Bluetooth on your tablet, and then attach the keyboard to the tablet again.
  2. Go to Settings > Bluetooth > PAIRED DEVICES on the tablet, touch the gear icon on the right, touch UNPAIR, and re-connect the two devices.

  3. Do not connect or use the keyboard in a place with strong interference (where multiple Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or electromagnetic devices exist).

Solution 3

  1. The smart keyboard can be charged with a charger. To do this, connect a USB-C charging cable to the charging port on the right side of the smart keyboard.

This solution applies only to HUAWEI Smart Keyboard (Compatible with HUAWEI MatePad 10.4-inch).

  2. Check whether the physical keys and keycaps on the keyboard are stuck or damaged.
  3. Update the keyboard firmware version and tablet system, and then attach the keyboard to the tablet for pairing again.
    1. Update the tablet's system version by going to Settings > System & updates > Software update, and touching CHECK FOR UPDATES. If an update is available, update your tablet to the latest version.
    2. Update the keyboard version by going to Settings > Bluetooth on the tablet, touching the gear icon on the right of the keyboard, and touching Firmware update > CHECK FOR UPDATES. If a new version is available, the new version details page will display. Touch DOWNLOAD & INSTALL to start the keyboard update.
    3. Once the system update is complete, connect the devices again.
  4. If the keyboard is compatible with HUAWEI MatePad 2023 and HUAWEI MatePad 11-inch 2023, press the D, F, and U keys on the keyboard in sequence and hold down on the keys for at least 20 seconds. The keyboard will automatically restart and reset. Once it resets, try re-attaching the keyboard.

  5. Restart your tablet and attach the keyboard and tablet for pairing again.
  6. If the keyboard status is normal but no keyboard information displays in the tablet's Bluetooth pairing list, your keyboard may be connected to another device. This is the case when the following is verified: When you press any key on the keyboard, the tablet does not respond. When you press the Caps key (caps lock) on the keyboard, the Caps indicator is steady on. If so, disable Bluetooth on the device that is currently connected to the keyboard. Alternatively, try pairing or connecting your tablet again somewhere far away from the device that is currently connected to the keyboard.
