Use Advanced Messaging

Advanced messaging is a data-based instant messaging service. Integrating the functions of both SMS and MMS messages, it provides you with a new and convenient way of communicating.

Advanced messaging supports sending a variety of content, such as text, images, voice and video clips, and location information.

This feature may vary depending on your carrier.

This feature is only available in some countries and regions.

Enable Advanced Messaging

  1. To use Advanced messaging, enable the VoLTE service first. For details, contact your mobile carrier.

  2. Switch to mobile data on your phone, then go to Messaging > > Settings > Message+, and enable Message+.

Ensure that you have switched to mobile data on your device before enabling Advanced messaging. You can then chat over mobile data or Wi-Fi.

Send Messages Using Advanced Messaging

Once Advanced messaging has been enabled, go to the Messaging screen and touch to perform the following:

  • Chat with a contact: Touch and select a contact.

  • Send a message to multiple contacts: Touch and select multiple contacts.

  • Switch from the Advanced messaging screen back to the normal messaging screen: On a contact's chat screen with Advanced messaging enabled, go to > Switch to SMS/MMS .

Wide Range of Chat Features in Advanced Messaging

Once Advanced messaging has been enabled, go to the Messaging screen and touch to perform the following:

  • Send a voice message: After adding a contact, go to > Recording and start recording. Release your finger to send the voice message or swipe up to cancel.
  • Send a photo: Go to > to take a photo, or go to > to select an existing photo.
  • Send a video: Go to > > to record a video, or go to > to select an existing video.
  • Send an emoji: Touch , select an emoji, then touch .
  • Send a location: Go to > , follow the onscreen instructions to select a location, then touch .
  • Send a business card: Go to > , touch , select the contact whose business card you want to send, then touch .
  • Send a file: Go to > , touch , select the file you want to send, then touch .

Create a Group Chat

Once Advanced messaging has been enabled, you can use the following methods to create a group chat:
  • On the Messaging screen, go to > New group chat, select the contacts you want to add to the group chat, touch , then enter a name for the group chat. You can then begin chatting in the group.

  • On a contact's chat screen, go to > New group chat, then follow the onscreen instructions to create a group chat.

In a group chat, you can send instant voice messages, photos, videos, emojis, locations, business cards, and files. The following features are also available:

  • Alert specific recipients: Enter "@" to select a recipient from your contact list before entering a message. This will prompt the recipient to view your message. You can perform this operation for a single contact or for multiple contacts, but not for all contacts.

  • Forward and share chat information: You can forward and share chat logs. You can share voice messages, but not forward them.

Manage a Chat Group

You can view and manage chat groups depending on your preferences.

  1. On the Messaging screen, go to > Chat groups.

  2. Select a chat group and go to > Group details. On the Group details screen, you can:
    • Manage contacts in the group.

    • Set your nickname in the group.

    • Turn message notifications off for the group.

    • Exit the group.
