Unable to disable the lock screen password on my HUAWEI phone/tablet

If you have forgotten the lock screen password, refer to Forgot the lock screen password or unable to unlock the phone/tablet using the lock screen password.

Disable the lock screen password, perform the following steps:

  • Open Settings, search for Disable lock screen password in the search box at the top and access it, and tap DISABLE.
  • When the lock screen password is disabled, the Fingerprint and Face Recognition features will no longer be available, and all enrolled data will be cleared.

If the lock screen password cannot be found or disabled, perform the following steps:

1. Confirm and exit PrivateSpace.

Cause: The lock screen password can only be disabled in MainSpace.

Procedure:

  1. Go to Settings > Privacy (or Security & privacy) > PrivateSpace.
  2. If you are currently in PrivateSpace, tap Quit to return to MainSpace.
  3. Disable the lock screen password in MainSpace.

2. Check Device administrators.

Cause: An app has been activated in Device administrators, and the system does not allow the absence of a lock screen password for security reasons. In this case, the Disable lock screen password option is grayed out and cannot be tapped.

Procedure:

  1. Open Settings, and then search for Device administrators in the search box on the top and access it.
  2. Apply Deactivate.
