Forgot the App lock password
Forgot the App lock password |
If you forget your lock screen password of your phone/tablet, refer to Forgot the lock screen password or unable to unlock the phone/tablet using the lock screen password.
App Lock allows you to lock phone/tablet apps to prevent unauthorized access. If you forget the password of a locked app, perform the following:
1 Enter the answer to the security question and reset the password
Go to Settings, search for and touch App Lock, and select Use password . Check whether the Forgot password? option is displayed on the App Lock password input screen.
The Forgot password? option is displayed on the App Lock password input screen
It indicates that you have set a custom password for App Lock. Touch Forgot password? at the bottom of the App Lock screen to enter the answer to the security question and reset the password.
The Forgot password? option is not displayed on the App Lock password input screen
It indicates that you have set the lock screen password for App Lock. Enter your lock screen password to unlock the app in question. If the app cannot be unlocked using the lock screen password, refer to Forgot the lock screen password or unable to unlock the phone/tablet using the lock screen password.
2 Access App Lock with your fingerprint or face and unlock the app in question
If you have enabled access to App Lock using your fingerprint or face, open Settings, search for and access App Lock, and use your fingerprint or face to access the locked app list screen and unlock the app.
After you unlock the app, the App Lock password you set before will be used by default when you lock the app next time.
For phones/tablets running HarmonyOS, EMUI 9.1, or Magic UI 2.1 or later, your custom password or lock screen password is still required when you change the password of App Lock or disable App Lock.
3 If the issue persists, perform the following operations:
- EMUI 8.1 and earlier: Uninstall and reinstall the locked app to disable App Lock. However, for apps that cannot be uninstalled (such as HUAWEI AppGallery), you need to back up your data and restore your device to its factory settings to unlock the apps. (The data of locked apps cannot be backed up.
Uninstalling an app may cause the app data to be deleted synchronously. Please back up your data in advance.
- HarmonyOS, EMUI 8.2, and Magic UI 2.X or later: Locked apps can only be unlocked by restoring the device to its factory settings. Please back up your data using HiSuite and perform a factory data reset by going to Settings on your phone/tablet, searching for Reset phone, and following the onscreen instructions to complete the process. (Locked apps will not be able to be unlocked by uninstalling and reinstalling them.)
If the issue persists, back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
