Currently, only the HUAWEI WATCH XXX supports Auto-detect cycling, and other HUAWEI wearable devices do not support this feature. Thank you for your understanding and support.

If Auto-detect workouts does not work when you are wearing your watch/band for a period of time during a supported workout, ensure that your watch/band system version is up to date, and then perform the following steps.

Enable Auto-detect workouts

On your watch/band, go to Settings > Workout settings/Workout and enable Auto-detect workouts. Your watch/band will then remind you to start a workout when it detects that you are working out.

Auto-detect workouts is enabled by default on the HUAWEI WATCH XXX. If you want to disable it, just navigate to Settings > Workout > Auto-detect workouts on your watch.

Your workout posture and intensity must meet the requirements

Auto-detect workouts works only when your workout posture and intensity meet the requirements for the corresponding workout mode.

  • Running: Swing your arms naturally while running, and don't swing them too much or keep them still. Maintain a steady pace of 8 minutes per kilometer or faster for bout 3 to 5 minutes, and try not to stop often.
  • Walking: Walk with your arms swinging naturally—not too much or too little. Keep up a pace of at least 80 steps per minute for around 10 minutes, avoiding frequent stops.
  • Outdoor cycling: Ride at a steady pace of at least 8 km/h with your heart rate staying over half of your maximum. For example, if your maximum heart rate is 180 bpm, keep it above 90 bpm. Continue this effort for at least 4 minutes without stopping often.

To view your maximum heart rate settings, open the Huawei Health app, and navigate to Me > Settings > Settings > Exercise heart rate settings > Seated.

Do not tap No or Ignore today after the Auto-detect workouts reminder is triggered

When your watch/band detects your workout status, it will vibrate and display a reminder for 30 seconds. If you do not respond, the reminder will disappear.

If you're using a HUAWEI WATCH XXX, it shows a 15-second countdown once it detects your outdoor cycling activity. After the countdown finishes, the workout begins automatically. To skip this reminder, simply press the crown or swipe right on the screen.

If you continue to work out at this intensity, the reminder will reappear after 3–5 minutes. And if you do not respond to the first three reminders, the watch will end the current auto-detect workout process.

As shown in the following figures, if you tap No, the reminder will reappear after 10 minutes. If you tap Ignore today, Auto-detect workouts will not be available this day. If you tap Disable Auto-detect, this feature will be disabled.

If the issue persists, restart your watch/band and try again.

If the issue remains unsolved, call the Huawei customer service hotline for further assistance.
