Enabling or disabling the Auto power on feature on my HUAWEI laptop |
Introduction to the Auto power on feature
- Your laptop automatically powers on and displays the system login screen when the lid is opened, which reduces your waiting time during startup.
- When you close the lid during use, the laptop will automatically enter Sleep mode, and enter Hibernation mode after 180 minutes.

Enabling/Disabling the Auto power on feature
The Auto power on feature is enabled by default before the laptop is delivered. During the first startup, you will not be able to power on your laptop by opening the lid, and you need to connect your computer to a power adapter to unlock the transportation mode.
Method 1: Enable or disable the Auto power on feature in the BIOS.
- Press and hold F2 immediately during startup to open the BIOS settings screen of the laptop.
- On the BIOS settings screen, use the down arrow key on the keyboard to go to Advanced > LID Power On, and press Enter.
- In the dialog box that is displayed, select Disable and press Enter. This feature will then be disabled.
If you would like to re-enable this feature, select Enable in the dialog box and press Enter.
- Confirm the modification and press F10 to save the settings and exit.
Method 2: Enable or disable the Auto power on feature in Huawei PC Manager. (This method is supported only by certain models.)
Precaution:
Currently, only the pre-installed Huawei PC Manager (version: 13.0.3.390) on HUAWEI MateBook X Pro (models: VGHH-16, VGHH-32, MRGFG-32, and MRGFG-16) and HUAWEI MateBook 14s (model: HKFG-16) supports the Auto power on feature. For other models, see Method 1.
Procedure:
- Click on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen to open Huawei PC Manager and then in the upper right corner, and select Settings.
- Go to System > Auto power on to enable or disable this feature.
