Configure the network for a HUAWEI laser printer using a mobile phone, tablet, or computer
Configure the network for a HUAWEI laser printer using a mobile phone, tablet, or computer |
Before using a printer, you can connect the printer to a home or enterprise router network in wired or wireless mode. After the connection is established, you can not only use the printer for printing, scanning, and copying, but also share the printer with other mobile phones, tablets, and computers on the same network.
Precautions:
- Before getting started, make sure that the HUAWEI printer is not connected to any network (the network status button blinks white). If the network status button is steady white, it indicates that the printer has already been connected to a network. Other devices can be directly connected to the printer. To reset the network, press and hold the network status button for 3 seconds.
- Printers support 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi but not 5 GHz Wi-Fi and portal hotspots (that is, Wi-Fi hotspots that require web page authentication) in places such as airports and hotels. If no network is available, skip this section. For details, see Connect my phone, tablet, or computer to a HUAWEI laser printer when no Wi-Fi network is available.
Procedure:
The printer supports multiple network configuration modes. You can select any mode based on your device type. (Click the hyperlink in the table to go to the corresponding operation.)

Configure the network for a printer using a mobile phone or tablet (home and individual users)
For home and individual users, it is recommended that you use a mobile phone or tablet to configure a network for the printer, which is easier. After the network is configured, you can use the HUAWEI AI Life app to share the printer with more mobile phones or tablets, or share the printer with a computer over a LAN.
Method 1: Using the HUAWEI AI Life app (Recommended, applicable to HarmonyOS/Android/iOS mobile phones and tablets)
- Connect your phone or tablet to a router's Wi-Fi network and turn on Bluetooth.
- Search for HUAWEI AI Life in AppGallery or scan the QR code to download and install the latest version of the HUAWEI AI Life app.
- Open the HUAWEI AI Life app, log in with your HUAWEI ID, touch the plus icon (+), and touch Add device.
- After the printer's name is displayed on the scanning screen, touch CONNECT. Confirm the router's Wi-Fi name and enter the password to connect to the printer, touch NEXT, and follow the onscreen instructions to configure the network for the printer.
- After the network is configured, you can share the printer with other phones, tablets, or computers.
Method 2: Via Pop-up Pairing (applicable only to HarmonyOS phones and tablets)
- Connect your phone or tablet to a router's Wi-Fi network and turn on Bluetooth.
- Search for HUAWEI AI Life in AppGallery or scan the QR code to download and install the latest version of the HUAWEI AI Life app.
- Place your phone or tablet within 30 cm from the printer. In the displayed pop-up window, touch CONNECT. Confirm the Wi-Fi name and enter the password of the router to which the printer is to connect, touch NEXT, and follow the onscreen instructions to configure the network for the printer.
- After the network is configured, you can share the printer with other phones, tablets, or computers.
- If no printer is found or the connection fails, press and hold the network status button on the printer for more than 3 seconds to reset the network. Then, use either of the preceding two methods to configure the network again.
- If the system displays a message indicating that the network configuration fails, please see Unable to configure the printer's network.
Configure the network for a printer using a computer (enterprise and team users)
For enterprise and team users, it is recommended that you use a computer to configure a network for the printer. That way, you can configure through the Huawei Print client without the need to log in to your personal HUAWEI ID. After the network is configured, you can share the printer with other computers through the LAN.
After connecting the printer to a network using a computer, if you wish to share the printer with your phone, see the "Connect via printer hotspot" section in Connect my phone, tablet, or computer to a HUAWEI laser printer when no Wi-Fi network is available.
Method 1: Through a USB cable (applicable to Windows/macOS/Linux computers)
You can use the USB cable delivered with the printer to connect the printer to your device for more stable network configuration. (After network configuration is complete, you can remove the cable.)
- Connect the computer to the router's Wi-Fi network, or use a network cable to connect the computer to the router. Use the USB cable delivered with the printer to connect the computer to the printer.
- Open a browser on your computer, visit the official website of the printer (HUAWEI PixLab X1: https://consumer.huawei.com/en/printers/pixlab-x1/), find Driver download or Drivers, and download the client installation program package named "HUAWEI Printer (Laser)_XXX" based on your computer system.
If your computer cannot access the Internet, download the Huawei Print client to a USB flash drive and copy the client to the target computer.
- Decompress the downloaded package to a folder on the computer, and double-click the Huawei Print client installation program.
- For Windows computers: Decompress the installation package and double-click the .exe file, for example, PixLab_Series for Windows v1.122.exe, to open the Huawei Print client installation program.
- For macOS computers: Unzip the installation package and double-click the file whose file type is Application, for example, HUAWEI PixLab Series, to open the Huawei Print client installation program.
- For Linux computers: Decompress the installation package and double-click the .sh file, for example, install.sh, and choose Run in Terminal. In the Terminal window, enter the user name and password for logging in to the computer, to open the Huawei Print client installation program.
The Ubuntu OS is used as an example for Linux computers. The actual interface of those running Red Hat OS may vary slightly.
- On the Choose connection method and install Huawei Print screen, read and agree to the Huawei Print User Agreement, and select With a USB cable.
- Confirm the Wi-Fi name and enter password of the router to be connected to the printer, and click NEXT.
- After the Added successfully message is displayed, click DONE. The Huawei Print client named PixLab Series_Huawei Print will be displayed on the desktop.
Method 2: Through a network cable (applicable to Windows/macOS/Linux computers)
The network cable is required for network configuration and future usage.
- Use a network cable to connect the printer to the router: Connect one end of the network cable to the LAN port (network port) of the printer and the other end to the LAN port (network port) of the router. It is normal that the network status button blinks white or is off in this case.
- Press and hold the Start button of the printer for 3 seconds to print the system information page. On the system information page, check Wired network. If an IPv4 address (for example, 192.168.8.129) is successfully assigned, the connection is successful.
If the firewall and trustlist (physical isolation of MAC addresses) functions are enabled on your router, the printer may fail to automatically obtain an IP address. As a result, the network configuration fails. Please disable related functions, or add the printer MAC address to the router trustlist and try again.
Method 3: Via printer hotspot (applicable only to Windows computers)
If you cannot find the standard USB cable that came in the package, you can use the printer hotspot to connect to the network.
- Connect the computer to the router's Wi-Fi network.
Remember to select Connect automatically under the Wi-Fi name to ensure smooth network configuration for future use.
- Open a browser on your computer, visit the official website of the printer (HUAWEI PixLab X1: https://consumer.huawei.com/en/printers/pixlab-x1/), click Driver download or Drivers, and download the client installation program package named "HUAWEI Printer (Laser)_XXX" based on your computer system.
If your computer cannot access the Internet, download the Huawei Print client to a USB flash drive and copy the client to the target computer.
- Decompress the downloaded package to a folder on your computer. Double-click the .exe file, for example, PixLab_Series for Windows v1.122.exe, to open the Huawei Print client installation program.
