1. Prepare the following tools

  1. A USB flash drive with an available capacity of at least 8 GB, and the USB flash drive is formatted to the FAT32 format.

To do this, right-click on your USB flash drive and select Format, select FAT32 (Default) under File system, and click Start.

  2. A computer that can be connected to a USB flash drive and access the Internet, to download the system installation media.
  3. Computer whose system needs to be reinstalled.

To prevent data loss, please back up your data in advance.

2. Prepare system installation media

  1. Insert the USB flash drive into a computer that is connected to a network and visit the official Microsoft website (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10). Click Download Now and then Save. Download the media creation tool for installing the system: MediaCreationTool.exe.

If your computer is HUAWEI MateBook E 2019, set Integer to 32-bit (x86).

  6. Select USB flash drive under Choose where to save the installation file and click Next.

  7. If the USB flash drive is displayed in the Select a USB flash drive window (such as E:\), it means that you have successfully connected the USB flash drive to the computer. Click Next.

If a message pops up indicating that the USB flash drive cannot be found, it means that the USB flash drive cannot be detected. Check that the USB flash drive is connected to the computer correctly and click Refresh driver list.

  8. Your computer will then download Windows 10 automatically. When the download is complete, a message will be displayed indicating that installation media for Windows 10 is being created.

  9. Then the message Your USB flash drive is ready will be displayed. Click Finish. You can now install the new system using the USB flash drive.

3. Use the system installation drive to install Windows 10

Back up files to an external device before installation to avoid losing any important files.

  1. Insert the prepared USB flash drive into the computer. Press and hold or consecutively press F12 during startup, select the USB flash drive and Startup using USB drive, and press Enter.

  3. Once the installation screen displays, click Install now.

  5. Select Custom: Install Windows only (advanced) as the installation type.

  6. In the Where do you want to install Windows? pop-up window, select Drive 0, Partition 3: Windows. Go to Next > Confirm.

If the disk partition has been completely deleted, select the disk and click New to create a primary partition. Click Format, select NTFS as the file type, and perform subsequent operations as prompted.

  7. A message will be displayed indicating that Windows is being installed.

  8. After the system is installed, the computer will restart automatically. Disconnect the USB flash drive from the computer.

  10. The first-time startup screen will be displayed indicating that the system has been reinstalled. Follow the instructions to finish setting up the system.
