Solution
- Update Huawei PC Manager and the fingerprint driver to their latest versions.
- Update Huawei PC Manager to the latest version. For details, see Updating Huawei PC Manager to the latest version.
- To update the fingerprint driver, go to Huawei PC Manager > Optimization > Drivers > Check for updates, select all items to be updated, and click UPDATE. After the update is complete, restart your computer.
- Do not power off your computer, or press the Power button or fingerprint key while updating.
- You'll need to restart the computer for the update to take effect.
- Reset the PIN and enroll your fingerprint again.
The fingerprint button is integrated into the Power button on your computer. Touch the Power button to identify and enroll your fingerprint.
- Right-click the Windows Start menu, and go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options. Ensure that you have set a password and PIN code for your account.
- Delete the PIN and set a new PIN.
- After the PIN is set, enroll your fingerprint again. While you are enrolling your fingerprint, enroll as many fingerprint areas as possible, and avoid repeatedly enrolling the same area of your fingerprint, in order for the enrolled fingerprint image to be consistent with the image read by your computer when you press your finger against the fingerprint sensor.
- According to the Windows system settings, you cannot set fingerprints using a super administrator account. Switch to a non-super-administrator account, or create a regular account to set fingerprints. The procedure is as follows:
- If the computer has only one account, do not disable the super administrator permissions. Otherwise, you may not be able to log back in to the system.
- Disconnect the Internet connection before creating a local account.
- For detailed operations, see How to set up a Super Administrator account for Windows Home.
- To check whether you are using a super administrator account, type cmd into the search box on the taskbar and open it. If you see C:\Users\Administrator in the pop-up window, you are using a super administrator account.
- If your account is a super administrator account, press Win+R to display the Run window, enter netplwiz, and click OK.
- In the User Accounts dialog box, click Add....
- Click Local account to add a local account.
- In the User Accounts dialog box, select your account and click Properties.
- In the Properties dialog box, go to Administrator > OK. In the User Accounts window, click OK.
- After the settings are complete, restart the computer, log in to the computer using the newly created local account, enter the system, and enroll your fingerprint again.
- The fingerprint feature is unavailable when you do not have the required account control permissions. If the fingerprint settings screen cannot be opened when you enroll your fingerprint, and the Windows Hello app crashes or does not display a window when you set your fingerprint, check whether the user account control permission settings are correct. Type Change User Account Control settings into the search box on the taskbar and select Notify me only when apps try to make changes to my computer.
- You are only able to enroll up to 10 fingerprints for each account on your computer. When you attempt to enroll an 11th fingerprint, an error message will appear, indicating that the fingerprint is too similar to existing ones, and that you should try a different finger. If you can enroll more than 10 fingerprints, some of the fingerprints that you have already enrolled may be invalid.
- If the issue remains unresolved, back up your data, record your Office account, and use F10 to restore your computer to its factory settings.
- Solution 1: When such an issue occurs, wait for three to five seconds until the fingerprint feature is automatically restored. Then touch the fingerprint sensor again to unlock the screen.
Solution 2: Use the PIN or password to unlock the screen. The screen can then be unlocked using the fingerprint. The issue can also be resolved by restarting the device.
- Update the fingerprint driver by referring to step 1, then perform the following operations:
- Turn off memory integrity.
- If you have set a PIN for your system account, remove the PIN first.
- Press Win+I to launch Windows Settings. On Windows 11, go to Privacy & Security > Windows Security. On Windows 10, go to Update & Security > Windows Security.
- Go to Device security > Core isolation > Core isolation details.
- Turn off the Memory integrity toggle. Then restart the computer.
- Reset your PIN and fingerprint information. Then check whether fingerprint-related functions are working properly.
- Disable Virtualization-based security (VBS) with the following steps.
- Enter "MSInfo32" in the search box on the taskbar and press Enter.
- In the System Information window, scroll down the panel on the right to find Virtualization-based security. If it's running, then VBS is enabled and needs to be disabled.
- Right-click the Start menu (Windows icon) and select Windows PowerShell (Admin). Copy and paste the command bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off and press Enter. Restart your computer.
- Enroll your fingerprint again. Then check whether fingerprint-related functions are working properly.
- Enter "MSInfo32" in the search box on the taskbar and press Enter.
- Turn off memory integrity.
