The proximity pairing prompt is not displayed or displayed incorrectly for my HUAWEI earbuds |
If you are unable to connect to the earbuds, troubleshoot by referring to Unable to connect my HUAWEI FreeClip/FreeBuds/FreeLace series earbuds to a phone or tablet via Bluetooth.
If no prompt displays when the HUAWEI earbuds are close to a HUAWEI phone/tablet/PC, or if the prompt flashes or displays an incorrect shape or color for the earbuds, or fails to download the animation or does not display any animation at all, perform the following steps.
For HUAWEI PCs:
- Proximity pairing prompts are only supported on certain PC models. Make sure that your PC is included in the list of supported devices.
- If you are using FreeBuds Pro 4/FreeBuds SE 3/FreeBuds Pro 4/FreeLace Pro 2/FreeClip/FreeBuds Pro 3/FreeBuds 4E/FreeBuds Lipstick/WATCH Buds/FreeBuds 5/FreeBuds SE 2/FreeBuds Pro 2/FreeBuds 6i/FreeBuds 5i/FreeBuds 4/FreeBuds 4i/FreeBuds Pro/FreeBuds Studio/FreeBuds 3/FreeLace Lite, and try to connect the earbuds to your HUAWEI PC, update PC Manager to the latest version. FreeBuds 3i and FreeLace Pro do not support proximity pairing prompts on PCs.
For HUAWEI FreeBuds 6i, proximity pairing prompts of some HUAWEI PCs is being adapted and will be updated automatically in the near future. Please stay tuned for the latest updates and keep your PC connected to the Internet.
For HUAWEI phones/tablets:

Connect the device to a Wi-Fi network and enable Bluetooth in Settings.

Check the system version and troubleshoot as follows:
- For EMUI 11.0 or later/HarmonyOS 2.0:
- Open AppGallery, go to Audio Accessory Manager to its latest version. (If you cannot find Audio Accessory Manager in the list, it indicates that it is already running the latest version.) Once Audio Accessory Manager is updated to version 14.0.6.333 or later, while you are playing music, making calls, or playing videos on the phone/tablet, only the connection capsule will pop up at the top of the screen when you open the earbuds' charging case. The earbuds' pairing prompt will not pop up. This is normal and does not indicate an issue with your earbuds.
- The bubble effect in HUAWEI FreeBuds 5 earbuds' proximity pairing prompt requires Audio Accessory Manager 13.0.0.140 or later.
, then find and update - For devices running HarmonyOS 4.2 or earlier, go to Storage, then touch CLEAR DATA, and pair the earbuds with your phone again. , search for Audio Accessory Manager, touch

- For EMUI 11.0 or earlier:
- Go to , and touch the three-dot icon in the upper right corner of the screen.
- Select Show system processes, search for and touch Device connection service, and go to . Some models do not support the device connection service or proximity pairing prompts. These models include the P Smart 2019, P Smart 2019+, and Y9 2019/HONOR 8/Y6 and earlier editions.
- For EMUI 11.0 or later/HarmonyOS 2.0:

Restart your phone/tablet. The configuration files will be automatically downloaded from the server.
- Restore the earbuds to their factory settings and enter Pairing mode.
- Place the earbuds within 20 cm of your phone/tablet and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the pairing. Proximity pairing prompts and animations are only supported on certain devices. For details, please refer to Proximity pairing on HUAWEI earbuds.
Certain phones/tablets (such as HUAWEI nova 4e) may not show the proximity pairing prompts in certain apps, such as Camera, gaming apps, and Settings. This does not affect the Bluetooth connection or your ability to use the earbuds.
If your HUAWEI FreeBuds series/WATCH Buds earbuds are slow to power on or reconnect, and the pairing prompt takes a long time to display, click here to troubleshoot.
