When there is an incoming call from a saved contact, the contact's name is not displayed

On the incoming call screen, if the phone numbers of Contacts stored on your phone are displayed instead of the name, troubleshoot the issue depending on the following scenarios.

After restarting the phone, the name of the contact is not displayed on the lock screen when there is an incoming call.

Your phone will encrypt the data on your phone for security purposes after being restarted, so no information will be displayed on the lock screen when the phone has just been restarted. Unlock your phone first to restore the data. The contact's name will be displayed on the lock screen the next time you receive a call.

The contact name stored in PrivateSpace is not displayed for incoming calls

  • The contact is stored in PrivateSpace but not in MainSpace. In this case, when receiving an incoming call in MainSpace, only the contact's phone number will be displayed.
  • For privacy protection reasons, only the number of a private contact will be displayed on the lock screen in PrivateSpace.

To check whether PrivateSpace has been enabled, go to Settings > Privacy > PrivateSpace. If Log in is displayed, PrivateSpace has been enabled.

Other cases

  • Please verify if the number is duplicated and if any entry is missing a name or has the phone number as the note. Duplicate entries can cause matching issues during incoming calls, leading to incorrect contact information being displayed. It is recommended that you delete duplicate numbers from the contacts.
  • Check whether the SIM cards are inserted into a wrong slot and try again.

If the issue persists

Back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
