Some app icons are missing from my HUAWEI phone/tablet's home screen

Swipe down from the middle of the screen and search for the app in question in the search box.

If the app is found, touch in the search result to see its location. If the app can't be found, it does not exist. For further guidance, refer to the links below:

If the app can be found

  1. Drawer is in use

Open Settings, search for Home screen style, and check whether Drawer is selected. If it is, switch to Standard, and try to find the app again.

  2. Simple mode is in use

Open Settings, touch Exit Simple mode, and search for the app again.

  3. Switch to a different theme

Open Themes, touch Me, select one of the Preset themes, touch Apply, and then try to find the app again.

If the app can't be found

  1. If you have logged in to a sub-user account, Guest account, or PrivateSpace

Some apps and settings in the MainSpace are not displayed when using a sub-user or Guest account, or accessing PrivateSpace. Switch to the MainSpace to view them. If you are not sure whether you are in the MainSpace, restart your phone/tablet. It will automatically access the MainSpace after being restarted.

  2. If your device is in Safe mode

Under Safe mode mode, only basic functions and pre-installed apps are available. If a Safe mode watermark is displayed in the lower left corner of the screen, your phone or tablet is in Safe mode. To exit Safe mode, restart your phone/tablet.

  3. If the issue occurs with a specific app:
    1. For a pre-installed app, swipe down on your phone/tablet to access Global Search/AI Search, enter the name of the app (such as Email), and touch RESTORE. If the restoration fails, see Pre-installed system apps on my HUAWEI phone/tablet fail to be restored after being uninstalled.

Apps pre-installed on your device, such as Screen recording and Flashlight, do not have home screen icons. Swipe down from the upper right corner of the screen to display the shortcut switch panel to use them.

    2. For a third-party app, re-install it from AppGallery or from its official website.
