Unable to enable or disable the personal hotspot

Problem:

1. The user swipes down from the status bar to open the notification panel, but the Hotspot icon cannot be switched on or off.
2. On the hotspot settings screen, the hotspot switch cannot be turned on or off, or the screen exits when it is turned on or off.

Solution:

1. If Data saver or Smart data saver is enabled, the hotspot cannot be enabled by default to save mobile data. In this case, open Settings, search for and access Data saver or Smart data saver, turn off this switch, then try again.
2. If the permission to write system settings in System UI has not been granted, you cannot switch the hotspot icon in the notification panel on or off. Open Settings, search for and access Apps, touch in the upper right corner, then touch Show system processes (if Hide system processes is displayed, move on to the next step). On the Apps screen, search for and access System UI, touch Write system settings, and turn on the switch.
3. If the permission to write system settings in Settings has not been granted, you cannot turn the hotspot switch on the hotspot settings screen on or off as the screen will exit. Open Settings, search for and access Apps, search for and access Settings, touch Write system settings, and turn on the switch (If this option is not available in the settings, please ignore and continue to the next step of troubleshooting).
4. Enable and then disable Airplane mode, then restart your phone and try again.
5. If the issue persists, the hardware of your phone may be faulty. Back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
