Setting a power-on password

Follow the onscreen instructions to set a power-on password the first time you enter the system. If you skipped this part, you can still set one by following the steps below:

Setting up a power-on password:

  1. Click the Windows icon and the Settings icon, then click Account.

  2. Click Sign-in options, go to Password, click Add, then follow the onscreen instructions to add a new power-on password.

Changing the password:

If you are logging in to your computer using a Microsoft account, you can't leave the password empty due to the Microsoft security policy.

  1. Click the Windows icon and the Settings icon, then click Account.

  2. Click Sign-in options, go to Password, click Change, then follow the onscreen instructions to set a new power-on password. Click Change under Password, and you can leave New Password empty. Only your account name is shown when you start your computer.
