Analyze and optimize disks

Please note that you do not need to defragment the SSD. Doing so will shorten its lifespan and cause unnecessary wear and tear since the frequency of erasing and writing data increases during defragmentation.

Disk fragmentation management rearranges files stored on a disk to occupy contiguous storage locations and improve computer's overall performance and running speed.

To do this, perform the following:

  1. Open This PC and right-click on a disk (e.g. C:). Go to Attributes > Tools > Optimize.

  2. Select the disk that you want to defragment, and click Analyze. Then, click Optimize.
