The screen of a HUAWEI computer automatically turns off after being idle for a while |
Problem
The computer automatically turns off the screen if no operation is performed on it for an extended period of time.
Cause
- If you do not operate the computer for several minutes, the screen automatically turns off and the computer enters Sleep mode.
- If you do not operate the computer for a few hours, the screen automatically turns off and the computer enters Hibernate mode.
Solution
- To save power, the computer will turn off the screen and enter Sleep or Hibernate mode if it has been idle for a long time. This is normal and does not indicate an issue with your computer.
- In Sleep mode, the computer consumes very little power and you can quickly wake it up when you want to use it again.
- In Hibernate mode, your work will be saved, and the computer will then power off. When you power on the computer again, it will be restored to its previous state.
- If you would like to change when your computer enters Sleep mode, perform the following steps:
For Windows 10:
Click here to access the Power & sleep settings screen.
- Press Win+I to access the Settings screen.
- Go to System > Power & sleep. You can manually set the time when the screen turns off and the time when the computer enters Sleep mode.
For Windows 11:
Click here to access the Power & sleep settings screen.
- Press Win+I to access the Settings screen.
- Go to System > Power & battery. You can manually set the time when the screen turns off and the time when the computer enters Sleep mode.
If an audio or video is being played or Baidu Wangpan has been logged in to on the computer, it will prevent the computer from entering Sleep mode. In this case, however, the screen can still automatically turn off.
