VO2Max data does not display during outdoor workouts on my HUAWEI watch/band

What is VO2Max

  • VO2Max, or maximum oxygen uptake, refers to the maximum rate of oxygen consumption (ml/kg/min) measured during maximal exercise. It is an important indicator of cardiorespiratory fitness and aerobic endurance capacity.
  • To view your VO2Max of a single workout, go to Huawei Health > Health > Exercise records and select an outdoor walk/run record.

To view all historical VO2Max data, go to Huawei Health > Me > My data > VO2Max.

Note: If no data is displayed, it indicates that you have not used the watch to track any physical activities that can generate VO2Max data. To get your first VO2Max data, you need to start an outdoor running or walking session on your watch. The VO2Max data will be displayed once the following conditions are met.

If you start a workout session in the Huawei Health app (not connected to your watch), VO2Max data will not be displayed.

Requirements for VO2Max to display

To obtain your VO2Max data, wear a wearable that supports VO2Max detection, and start an outdoor running, outdoor walking, or track running mode on the wearable. Make sure to reach the required workout intensity. It is recommended that you use the device in an environment with good positioning signals.

Note: The VO2Max data is not available if you start outdoor running, outdoor walking, outdoor cycling, or track modes indoors, or if you use indoor workout modes such as indoor running, rope jumping, and free training.
  • During a run: Average speed should stay above 7.2 km/h after a 10-min warm-up, and always exhibit a minute-by-minute change within ±1 km/h. If running speeds keep fluctuating (for example, the running pauses frequently), the average speed for between the 8th and 10th minutes of every measurement period should stay above 7.2 km/h.
  • During a brisk walk: Cadence should stay over at least 100 steps/min for two kilometers.
