The 5G network speed is similar to the 4G network speed

Ensure that your SIM card has subscribed to a 5G data plan

Contact your carrier to check whether you have activated the 5G network services. If not, the speed won't be high even if you can access the 5G network. The 5G network speed may vary depending on the 5G data plan you have subscribed to. Contact your carrier to confirm the network speed of the current plan.

Check whether 5G has been enabled on your phone

Open Settings, search for and touch Status, and touch Networking. On the Signal strength screen, if "NR XXX dBm XX asu" is displayed, it indicates that 5G has been enabled. Otherwise, 5G is disabled, which affects the Internet access rate. Swipe down from the status bar, then enable and disable Airplane mode.

Move somewhere else or use a different app

The network speed depends on network conditions such as the signal strength, signal quality, and app server stability. You can try using different apps elsewhere.

If the Speedtest app is used and the tested speed is low

Check whether it is because the unit in Speedtest has been set to MB/s (1 MB/s = 8 Mbps), which will result in the app displaying the same test result in a smaller value than in Mbps.

Different speed test apps have different results. You can select another app and test the speed again.

If you cannot download Speedtest from AppGallery, download it online. Alternatively, download another speed test app.

Test the network speed at different times or different locations

The speed test result depends on the real-time network status and server. To achieve an accurate result, test the network speed multiple times at different times and different locations.

Restart your phone and try again

  • If the 5G signal strength is good but the network speed is still slow, restart your phone and try again.
  • If the network speed is still slow after the phone is restarted, there may be network configuration or compatibility issues in your local area. In this case, contact your local carrier for assistance.

If the issue persists

If the issue persists, back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
