Understanding roles: contact, common admin, and main admin

A kids' watch has two types of admins: main admin and common admin.

Main admin: The first adult account linked to a kids' watch becomes its main admin. A kids' watch can only have one main admin at a time.

Common admin: Additional adult accounts linked to the kids' watch become its common admins. Up to nine common admins can exist on a kids' watch simultaneously.

Contact: Users listed as contacts in the Contacts app of a kids' watch do not have any privileges to manage the watch.

Differences between the three roles:

  • Permission scope/priority: Main admin > Common admin > Contact
  • The main admin enjoys the full management scope of watch permissions, including the following privileges: common admin management, such as inviting new admins, adjusting the priority sequence of common admins, transferring main admin privileges, and removing common admins; ability to restore the kids' watch to its factory settings; right to change chat group names; right to allow and decline friend requests sent via the Shake to add feature; right to enable and disable the remote friend-adding feature (via the Allow others to add them through Contacts switch); and right to enable and disable the cloud gallery feature (only applicable to certain watch models).
  • A common admin has fewer administrative privileges than the main admin, which include unlinking themselves from the kids' watch, as well as adding, editing, and deleting contacts through HUAWEI FamCare. A common admin does not have the rights to manage other admins, restore the kids' watch to its factory settings, change chat group names, allow or decline friend requests sent via the Shake to add feature, or enable the remote friend-adding feature (via the Allow others to add them through Contacts switch) or the cloud gallery feature (only applicable to certain watch models).
  • A contact does not have any privileges to manage the kids' watch, but can only make and receive calls with the child user.
