Problem

A black screen displays when the user is using the laptop, and the issue is resolved after the user moves the laptop to another place or takes the objects under the laptop away.

Cause

The Hall sensor of the laptop is affected by a magnetic buckle or other magnetic objects. As a result, a black screen displays. Moving the laptop to another place, or keeping the laptop away from magnetic objects (such as the sleeve bag) will resolve the issue.

  • One image above uses the MateBook 14 series device as an example to indicate the position of the Hall sensor. The position of the Hall sensor varies by models.
  • Another image above shows a HUAWEI leather sleeve bag, which contains two magnets. The position of the magnets may vary by bags that are designed by other brands or that are made of other materials. Similar issues may occur if there are magnetic buckles on the bag.

Solution

These issues do not indicate an issue with your device. Keep your laptop away from magnetic objects as much as possible.
