What do I do if my HUAWEI earbuds unexpectedly disconnect or suddenly stop playing any sound?

  • In environments with strong signal interference, such as busy road intersections, subway stations, high-speed railway stations, and airports, the Bluetooth signal may weaken, causing earbuds to disconnect or stop playing any sound.
  • In a strong magnetic environment of 15,000 Gauss, the polarity of the magnetic pole may change. Therefore, do not take the earbuds when you are close to devices such as MRI instruments, proton therapy instruments, electromagnetic cranes, magnetic separators, motors, and generators.

If HUAWEI earbuds disconnect or suddenly stop playing any sound during a call or audio playback, perform the following to troubleshoot:

Check whether the earbuds are properly connected to the phone/tablet vie Bluetooth

Go to Settings > Bluetooth, and check whether the earbuds are properly connected to your phone/tablet via Bluetooth. If not, refer to Connecting HUAWEI Bluetooth earbuds to a phone/tablet/PC.

Enable Call audio and Media audio

Go to Settings > Bluetooth, touch next to the earbuds' name, touch Settings, and enable Call audio and Media audio. If you cannot enable them, restart your phone and try again.

Switch audio to Bluetooth earbuds

Switch the audio channels on your device to the earbuds. Your phone can connect with two or more Bluetooth audio devices at the same time. If the phone reconnects to a watch or a car, that device will become the default audio output device.
  • During a call: In the lower right corner of the call screen, select the audio output device to the connected earbuds, as shown below.

  • During media playback:
    • On phones running EMUI 10.0 or later: Swipe down from the top of the screen and select the connected earbuds as the audio output device in the Device connectivity section.
    • On phones running an EMUI version earlier than 10.0 or non-HUAWEI phones: Go to Settings > Bluetooth, then disconnect and re-connect the earbuds before playing audio again.

Restore to Factory Settings

Restart your phone/tablet, restore the earbuds to their factory settings, and pair them again. For details, refer to Restore the earbuds to their factory settings.

Enable Automatic audio switch

Open the AI Life app, access the earbuds card, touch Connection center, and enable Automatic audio switch.

Update the firmware of the earbuds

Open the AI Life app, and access the earbuds card. Touch Check for updates or go to Update > Check for updates to check whether the firmware version is the latest. If not, update the firmware to the latest version.

Adjust the way of wearing the earbuds or replace the ear tips.

For earbuds that support Smart wear detection, when the earbuds are not worn securely, playback may pause or resume automatically, or the sound may play through the device speaker instead. In this case, adjust the fit of the earbuds in your ears or choose a more appropriate size of ear tips before trying again.

If the issue persists, take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
