How to save photos in RAW format

A RAW image is an unprocessed image captured with the camera. It contains all of the raw image data captured by the camera sensor. Compared with the JPEG image that has been processed and compressed, the RAW image retains more details of the image, with a better quality and higher resolution. RAW images are usually used in professional photography for post-processing, so as to achieve desired effects.

To save photos in RAW format, open Camera on your phone and follow these steps:

  1. Touch Pro.

If Pro mode is not selected, the setting of saving photos in RAW format will not be enabled.

  2. Touch Settings in the upper right corner.
  3. Touch Resolution.
  4. Enable RAW format.

After the RAW format is enabled, when you take a photo, your phone will automatically generate a photo in both the JPEG and RAW formats.

If you cannot find RAW format on the resolution screen, it indicates that your phone does not support this function.

  • You may view the photo in RAW format from Gallery > Albums > More albums > Others > RAW.
  • The photo in RAW format is saved to Files > Internal storage > DCIM > Camera > RAW.

A photo in RAW format will take up a large amount of storage space since its size is dozens of times larger than that of a conventional JPEG image. Therefore, please ensure that your phone has sufficient internal storage before enabling the RAW format.
