Guide on using HONOR Magic-link 2.0

Just tap the phone against the computer to project a virtual version of your phone on the computer. You can control apps and files on your phone easily using your computer. Drag or tap to transfer files easily between two devices. You can even share clipboard content and documents.

Your mobile phone

Only some Huawei/Honor phone models support HONOR Magic-link 2.0.

The actual NFC area varies by phones, and it is usually located around the rear camera.

Your computer:

The computer has an HONOR Magic-link tag and is installed with the latest version of PC Manager.

Open PC Manager, go to > Check for updates to update PC Manager to the latest version.

I. Connecting your phone and computer

Set up a connection between your phone and computer before using HONOR Magic-link 2.0.

  1. On your computer, enable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and ensure that PC Manager is running in the background.

  2. On your phone, swipe down from the status bar to open the notification panel, and enable NFC, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.

  3. Tap the NFC detection area on the back of your phone against the HONOR Magic-link icon in the bottom-right corner of the computer until you hear the phone rings or vibrates.

  4. Follow onscreen instructions on your phone and computer to finish the connection.

    Alternatively, open PC Manager, go to My Phone > Connect, select your preferred method to set up the connection.

II. Multi-screen Collaboration

After the connection is set up, the phone screen will pop up on the computer. You can control your phone apps and file using the computer.

(1) Control your phone from the computer

On the virtual screen:

  • Left-clicking the mouse: control phone apps
  • Scrolling: Switch screens on the phone.
  • Typing: Type easily with any text editing apps such as Notepad using the keyboard.

Click on the top to maximize the window, while click to minimize the window.

(2) Seamless calling

You can pick up phone calls using the computer.

If you need to switch to your phone, just swipe down on the phone screen to display the notification panel, touch Connected devices and follow the onscreen instructions to switch back.

(3) Opening files on your phone using your computer

You can directly open and edit files on your phone using your computer.

For example, you can open documents, images, and videos stored in the Files app on your phone with your computer.

(4) Dragging and dropping files

  • From your phone to the computer
    1. Open Gallery or Files on the virtual screen.
    2. Click and hold a file until it gives you the option to select multiple files. Then click and drag files to the file folders on your computer, or edit them in documents or emails.

    You can also copy and paste text between your computer and phone seamlessly.

  • From the computer to the phone
    1. Open Gallery or Files on the virtual screen.

    2. On your computer, select the videos or images you want to transfer then just drag them to Gallery or Files, or use them in notes or emails.

III. File sharing

Once your phone is connected to the computer, you can start transferring files and recording the screen with just a tap.

Using HONOR Magic-link 2.0 to share files

Once you have connected your phone to the computer, you can use HONOR Magic-link 2.0 to transfer images, videos, or documents by doing the following:

If Multi-screen Collaboration is supported on your devices, it will be enabled when you tap your phone against the computer. When your phone screen is displayed as a window on the computer, keep it open. Closing the window will interrupt the transfer process.

  • From your phone to the computer
    1. Using your phone:

      • 1. Select one or more pictures or videos from the phone Gallery and transfer them to the computer.

      • Only documents opened with WPS on your phone can be transferred to your computer using HONOR Magic-link 2.0.

    2. 2. Tap the NFC area on the back of your phone against the HONOR Magic-link icon on your computer until the phone rings or vibrates. You can then transfer pictures or videos from your phone to the computer.

       
      • After the image (with text) on your phone is transferred to the computer, your computer will show you a preview window. Click to identify text on the image.
      • If you open an image or a document on your phone and the computer at the same time, the default transfer direction is from your phone to the computer.

  • From the computer to the phone
    1. Using your computer:

      • Right-click on the image and open it with Huawei Image viewer.

      • Open the document with Microsoft Office and start the transfer.

    2. Return to the home screen of the phone.

    3. Tap the NFC area on the back of your phone against the HONOR Magic-link icon on your computer until the phone rings or vibrates. You can then transfer pictures or videos from your phone to the computer.

(2) Magic-link Screen Recording

Magic-link Screen Recording is available on computers with Intel processors.

  1. Shake your phone, and within 5 seconds, tap the NFC detection area against the HONOR Magic-link icon and hold it there until the phone rings or vibrates. Once your computer screen is projected, your phone will start to record the current screen.

  2. Touch to stop the recording. Your phone can record up to 60 seconds for each recording. The recorded content will be stored in your phone's Gallery.

IV Data syncing

You can share the clipboard content between your phone and computer, as well as sync recent documents from your phone to the computer.

(1) Magic-link Clipboard Sharing
  1. Open PC Manager, go to My Phone > Enable, and follow the onscreen instructions to authorize your computer to read data on your phone. If it shows that it has already been enabled, enable Multi-Device Collaboration, on your computer, and follow the onscreen instructions to grant the required permissions to share clipboard content.

  2. Copy text from your phone and paste it on the computer, or vice versa.

  3. Click the PC Manager icon in the lower right corner of the computer screen and select Clipboard to check recently copied text.

(2) Recent files
  1. Open PC Manager, go to My Phone > Enable, and follow the onscreen instructions to authorize your computer to read data on your phone. If it shows that it has already been enabled, enable Multi-Device Collaboration, on your computer, and follow the onscreen instructions to grant the required permissions to sync file to the computer.

  2. Click the PC Manager icon in the lower right corner of the computer screen and select Documents to check recently opened documents.
