Use the keyboard backlight on a HUAWEI laptop

Only certain models support keyboard backlight, which can be told by the F3 key:

If there is a icon on the F3 key, it indicates that keyboard backlight is supported. If there is no icon on the F3 key, it indicates that keyboard backlight is not supported.

Turning on or off the backlight

Press F3 to turn on or off the keyboard backlight. The backlight brightness has two levels: Low and High. You can press F3 to switch between Low brightness, High brightness, and Off.

If the backlight cannot be turned on or off by pressing F3, press Fn on the keyboard, and then press F3 to adjust the backlight.

By default, the keyboard backlight automatically turns off when the keyboard has been idle for 15 seconds, and the keyboard backlight brightness is restored to the previous value when you operate the keyboard again.

Set the delay time before the backlight automatically turns off (Turn off backlight when there is no activity for XX)

The PC Manager settings screen may vary depending on the PC Manager version.

  1. Open Huawei PC Manager, click the icon in the upper right corner, and select Settings.

  2. Click Accessibility. Under Keyboard, set Turn off backlight when there is no activity for.

    If the keyboard backlight is off after the computer is powered off or restarted, you can press F3 to turn on the keyboard backlight.
