Turning on or off the keyboard backlight and setting the backlight timeout on my HUAWEI laptop |
This FAQ applies only to computers with the icon on the F3 key, which means the computers support keyboard backlight. If there is no
icon on the F3 key, it indicates that keyboard backlight is not supported.
Turning on or off the backlight
Press F3 to turn on or off the keyboard backlight.
If the backlight cannot be turned on or off by pressing F3, press Fn on the keyboard, then press F3.
- After a computer is restarted, the keyboard backlight is turned off by default, which is normal. You can press F3 to turn it on.
- If the keyboard backlight does not turn on, see Keyboard backlight of my HUAWEI laptop does not turn on.
Setting the backlight timeout
By default, the keyboard backlight automatically turns off once the keyboard is inactive within 15 seconds, and turns on when you operate the keyboard again. You can also perform the following steps to set the backlight timeout.
The PC Manager settings screen may vary depending on the PC Manager version.
- Open Huawei PC Manager, click the
icon in the upper right corner, and select
Settings.
- Go to Accessibility (or System) > Keyboard and select your preferred time under Turn off backlight when there is no activity for (or Turn off when there is no activity for). If you select Never, the backlight will always be on after you turn it on.
