The font on an external 2K HDMI display looks blurry in Duplicate mode

Problem

The user adjusted the HUAWEI Matebook X 2020 computer (default resolution: 3000 x 2000 pixels; default scaling size: 225%) to 2160 x 1440 resolution and 150% scaling size. They then connected a 2K HDMI display (default resolution: 1920 x 1080 pixels; default scaling size: 100%) to the computer through a docking station. After they set the projection mode to Duplicate, the font on the external display is blurry.

Cause

1. When you connect an external display to your computer whose resolution is non-default and enable Duplicate mode, your computer resolution will be restored to the recommended one.

2. A high-resolution, high-scaling computer does not match well with a low-resolution, low-scaling display in Duplicate mode.

Solution

You can increase the scaling size of the computer. For example, change it from to 200% or 225%. To do this, perform the following:

  1. Right-click in a blank area on the computer desktop and select Display Settings from the shortcut menu.
  2. In Scale and layout, select 200% or 225% from the drop-down list box of Change the size of text, apps, or other items.
